Halal Gyro King — Restaurant in New York

I’ve been coming to Halal Gyro King for a long time, but unfortunately, this place has been going downhill fast—and I can no longer recommend it.

To start, the staff is consistently unfriendly and grumpy. There’s no sense of customer service here. You walk in, and instead of being greeted or served with a basic level of respect, it feels like you’re bothering them just by ordering food.

One of my biggest concerns is the way they handle the food. They keep large piles of meat already cooked and stacked up on the grill. It’s hard to tell if any of it is actually fresh. It just sits there, and they scoop from that pile to serve customers. That’s not how freshly made food should look or taste.

Another issue is the pricing. If you order in person, the small chicken over rice platter is supposed to be $7. But more than once, they’ve tried to overcharge me—and when I correct them, instead of fixing it respectfully, they get visibly annoyed. And when you ask for extra meat, they’ll gladly charge you for it—but don’t expect to see any extra on your plate. It’s dishonest and frustrating.

What’s even more telling is that ever since Halal Munchies opened across the street, the difference in quality and service has become even more obvious. Gyro King isn’t keeping up, and instead of stepping up, they seem to be slipping further.

I’ve been coming to this location for a long time now. I always order four mixed race platters small size on the menu the prices are seven dollars for mixed race platters today December 25 I visited this location and ordered the same thing out of nowhere they are telling me it’s eight dollars when the menu says it’s seven dollars.! The cashier kept saying brother the price changed two months ago but their menu says seven dollars. When you ask them for extra meat they will charge you two dollars per plate but they won’t give you two dollars worth of meat. I feel like they are scamming a lot of customers this way! I ordered through door dash and was TOTALLY disappointed, I love gyros and decided to try this place. I ordered a gyro with extra meat on the side, wings, fries and a double cheeseburger, I instructed them to put the sauce on the side, they didnt! There were No fries, no extra meat on the side, no wings! I called the dasher, he left food in the car, he bought it to me, still No Fries or Extra meat. I called Again, fries were refunded, extra meat redelivered!
