Happy kitchen? More like depressed as all hell kitchen. and awkward kitchen too.

My friend and I decided we wanted some authentic Japanese cuisine and saw this place has some great reviews and really lively photos. When we entered the store was completely empty (Which may be the reason for my next statement) and the staff, from the waiters to the chefs (You can see all when entering the restaurant) had the gloomiest, saddest expressions. They did not look too "Happy" at all. The waiter was very quiet and somewhat awkward, though this is just complaining as I just prefer lively and up beat waiters.

So why the 3 star? Their food may have saved them I don't think my food was made with any kind of love at all, but it sure did taste good. My friend and I ordered chicken curry and it tasted great. I just wish the environment wasn't...

If I could give this place -1000 stars I would, MOST UNPROFESSIONAL, RUDE place you can ever order from. I ordered from them and got the wrong order after one hour ( live two blocks from them) then the delivery guy comes and demands the food back and they are going to give it to another customer ( even though it’s been opened) and he’s going to go get my food from someone else. That is so disgusting and unsanitary and then when I ask for a refund he tries to give me the purchase receipt and lie that this will get automatically refunded. How am I going to beleive that unless they give me a return or refund. If you guys want a better sushi experience just go to Okawa a few blocks away honestly, you won’t be so...

Frustrating Experience at Happy Restaurant

I recently dined at Happy Restaurant, a Japanese eatery, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. The standout issue was the extensive waiting time, which was unacceptably long. Despite the promise of a pleasant dining experience, the excessive wait severely dampened my enthusiasm.

Additionally, the language barrier with the waiter further complicated the visit. Their inability to understand English made it challenging to communicate our preferences and led to a less than satisfactory interaction. This hindered the overall enjoyment of our meal and left us...

Happy Kitchen in Jackson Heights may not boast flash or extravagance, but that’s exactly its charm. With over 20 years of Japanese culinary expertise, the owner and team bring consistent, fresh, and heartfelt food to a cozy, inviting space. From the delicate décor and soft music to the diverse menu—sushi, bento, udon, teas—it feels authentically Japanese. I’m not Japanese, but I’ve lived in Nepal surrounded by Japanese cuisine—and here I finally found a spot that feels truly authentic. The friendly service, regular Japanese clientele, and genuine flavors keep me coming back. Highly satisfied.

This has been my go-to local sushi place ever since I was a kid, hands down best sushi in Jackson Heights. The atmosphere is so calm, the staff I’ve known for years now and they are the sweetest people, always very gentle and polite making your experience even more enjoyable. And last but not least, their sashimi and sushi rolls are always so fresh, very well prepared. They definitely know their stuff when it comes to Japanese food and I recommend this place to anyone in the area who wants to find a comforting spot to grab lunch or even dinner dates.

Udon may seem like a simple food, but it is by no means an easy dish. However, by looking at the taste of udon, you can roughly know the taste of the food at that place. This is why the attitude of making broth is one of the basics of a food cook. It may not be easy to taste good udon in New York, but it's a shame. The broth had a strong cabbage flavor and the shrimp topping was thick. Udon is not the signature dish, but I don't think I'll come back to try other dishes.
