As a self-proclaimed pizza connoisseur and a passionate foodie, it is my duty to bring attention to truly remarkable dining experiences. I recently visited an unassuming yet extraordinary pizza place located just a stone's throw away from the Brooklyn Bridge. Tucked away from the typical tourist path, this hidden gem is one that you absolutely cannot miss.
Let me begin by stating that this is hands down the best pizza place in the area. I have sampled pizzas from various establishments in my ongoing quest for the perfect slice, and only three pizza places make it onto my highly recommended list, a list that is constantly praised by fellow food enthusiasts. This pizzeria is, without a doubt, deserving of a spot on that list.
Upon entering this establishment, I was immediately greeted by the warm, inviting atmosphere. Rustic wooden tables and chairs are dispersed throughout the cozy dining area, while the aroma of freshly baked pizza wafts through the air. The walls are adorned with an eclectic mix of art, further adding to the charm of this delightful eatery.
Now, let's talk pizza. The crust is a work of art in and of itself, boasting a perfect balance of crispiness and chewiness. The rich, tangy tomato sauce provides a solid foundation for a symphony of flavors, with a generous helping of gooey, melted mozzarella cheese that stretches with each glorious bite. The toppings are fresh and flavorful, sourced locally to ensure the highest quality. It is evident that the chefs take great pride in their craft, creating each pizza with the utmost care and attention to detail.
In addition to the phenomenal pizza, the service at this pizzeria is truly outstanding. I must give credit where credit is due, and that is to Anastasia, our exceptional waitress. From the moment we were seated, she was attentive, knowledgeable, and radiated a genuine passion for both the food and her customers' satisfaction.
Anastasia's recommendations were spot-on and helped elevate our dining experience. Her attention to detail and her sincere desire to ensure we had an enjoyable meal made us feel like valued guests in her home. It is rare to encounter such a dedicated and caring individual in the service industry, and Anastasia's presence only further solidifies this pizzeria as a must-visit destination.
In conclusion, if you find yourself in the vicinity of the Brooklyn Bridge, do yourself a favor and seek out this hidden treasure. The unforgettable pizza and the unparalleled service provided by Anastasia will leave you yearning for more. Trust me when I say, as a devoted foodie, that this pizza place is a culinary experience you won't...
Read moreThe location of this restaurant is by far the reason why it pulls in so many customers. While one can't dispute the venue, gorgeous wall of mirrors with colorful backlights and a view of the Manhattan Bridge. The unique paintings of sea creatures, namely octupi, around the restaurant. The seating arrangements were well thought out, for each party to have their own space and not feel too cramped like most NY restaurants are not. However, the food and service was left by the wayside. Firstly, Ignazio's is cash only; a frustrating thing to have, but fine. However, their ATM machine was out of order, so you would need to go and get money outside of the restaurant. My party and I need two plain Pizzas, medium, and an order of buffalo chicken wings. The tomato sauce was runny and the crust was really hard and burnt in some areas. It was like biting into the scorched bread after you forget about the toaster. The cheese was very clumpy on the pizza, maybe not evenly distributed, as a result, it was too chewy. Overall, The flavor of the pizza was mediocre at best. It seemed very dull and bland. Also, we had trouble figuring out who our waiter was, because various employees would keep coming to our table throughout the night. There was miscommunication between the staff that made getting our buffalo chicken wings hard or even basic things like garlic salt or straws for our drinks difficult. A server accidentally gave our order to the wrong table (who ate our wings). So, My party was through with both pizza's before we even saw the wings. And when they came, it was really disappointing. The wings were soft, as if boiled, not baked or fried. So the skin was still a little gelatinous and it just looked unappealing. Then, the buffalo sauce was really soaked into the wings, it was draped on top, which meant the flavor was shallow. My table could not even finish the plate. We also noticed that our table was the only ones with metal water cups in addition to our drinks, while the rest of the restaurant had glass cups with lemon wedges. Mind you, my party of 5 came into Ignazios at 7pm, while the restaurant was mostly empty. After this dissatisfactory experience, I wouldn't recommend eating here and I definitely won't come back. The location is nice, and it pulls you in, but there are literally 2 more...
Read moreAfter celebrating my son's birthday at Jane's Carousel at the Brooklyn Bridge Park we came across Ignazio's Pizzeria a few minutes walk from the park. Saturday afternoon around 1:30 pm was rather crowded but we were seated immediately and waited about 10 minutes before the waitress asked if we were ready to order. We ordered a white pizza with mozzarella and picorina romano. For $3 extra we requested ricotta added. After 10 minutes it arrived with a very thin crust. No steam arising from the top to confirm it was hot. No smell of the ingredients even though it was also supposed to have garlic. What's worst, the ricotta on top was refrigerator cold and the ricotta was decorated as small mountain peaks with swirls similar to soft ice cream in various spots on top. The ricotta was smooth and airy with little taste. We were hungry and ate most, not all of this montrasty. I know pizza therefore this was the worst in my life. Pizzas with ricotta are usually spooned on a few moments before the pizza is baked to completion and slightly warm when the chef puts the pizza back in the oven after adding on the ricotta topping. Only thing enjoyable was the beverage, Gus' pomegranate soda. I don't like to write negative reviews, 1 star is generous, but this restaurant probably only survives because of its excellent location on Water Street. If Ignazio's was located anywhere else in a local neighborhood in Bensonhurst, The Bronx, even Manhattan they'd be done in 30 days. BTW, the neighbor table's classic pizza also arrived to their table not steaming so it was borderline cold. Unforgivable. Lastly, our 10 year old son ate one bite and wouldn't eat more. We took him across the street to Sub7 where he ate 2 organic hot dogs. NOTE: They only accept cash (weird). Their in store ATM was out of order when...
