This place is the epitome of NYC crappy food scene calling itself fine dining. Although a very nice intimate setting and overall good service, it just fell flat on every level with the food.
Straciatella soup was badly scrambled egg in broth - not even the white and yolk had been mixed properly and in big chunks like boiled egg white as opposed to the silky ribbons of egg one expects. Risotto was definitely not arborio rice, although the grain held its shape, it was neither al dente nor creamy as one expects with a good risotto. Poor sole fillets were deep fried in batter, could have been tilapia, the delicate elegance of sole completely lost with cooking method and in a thick brown sauce as opposed to lemon wine as on menu. Lastly the “famous cannelloni” with pistachio ice cream that had the color of cheap mint chip - texture of the filling was more frosting than ricotta and well needless to say the neon green gelato didn’t taste anything like pistachio.
Very disappointing, won’t...

However, prices were way too much for the quality and the quantity too - portion size was very disappointing and my husband can make better pasta at home than what we had. I don't know where the chef is from but the servers were definitely NOT Italian - I heard them speaking Spanish and the music playing was also Spanish until they changed it to Italian, so I'm guessing this is an Italian restaurant, run by Mexicans. It definitely ruined the authenticity of the restaurant, but explained why the food didn't taste Italian at all - it was almost Olive Garden taste, but with sizes smaller than Europe, and unjustifiable prices. The food came too quickly for any of it to be fresh. Sauces were watery, pasta tasted almost fake. Still, had a lovely evening due to the atmosphere and we were...
Read moreEveryone needs to try this restaurant! Whether you’re a local in the area or not, it’s worth the commute. Traditional Italian food in a cozy, brick lined, intimate setting. Whether I’m dining solo or with a friend, I always feel welcome here. The service is top notch and food is impeccable. I love their Pappardelle Alla Boscaiola which is their homemade flat noodles with sun dried tomatoes, basil, mushrooms, Marsala wine sauce and garlic. It’s a must try! They also give complimentary bread and a bruschetta slice per person. If you need a good wine or cocktail, they have you covered for that as well. Their Moscow mules are one of my favorites. I haven’t tried their desserts yet because I’m always so full from the pasta but everything on the dessert menu looks good and I’ve heard great things about. Give this place a try and you won’t be...
