I’ve been in New York for about 3 years now and this was by far my worst dining experience I’ve ever had.
I’ll try and keep this short but there was a lot of problems with Jackdaw. We sat down, greeted within 5 minutes and received our drinks within 10 minutes but then the issues started. We sat there waiting for our order to be taken for the next 35 minutes (not exaggerating) and then when our waiter finally arrived with no idea anything was wrong, we ordered and then we’re told we had to be out in an hour for another reservation. That should have been fine, but then our food took another 30 minutes to arrive. During the wait, I was about 3/4 done with my beer and the waiter cleared it without asking if I was done or wanted another one. Everyone else eventually finished their drinks and we sat waiting. Food finally arrived and they got my order wrong. Another 10 minutes until I got my correct order. I ordered an appetizer which never arrived and I told the waiter he could cancel it, which he denied. Then 10 minutes after my main course arrived the second time, our appetizers finally arrived. A busser even put a tray of dirty drinks on our table for a while. We finished our food and waited another 15 minutes to get the check (we were well after the time we were told we had to leave by. Oops.)
We never received an apology and obviously nothing was discounted from the bill.
Food was good, nothing crazy but good. Mixed cocktails were great though.
Hopefully for some creditably to this review, I was a server for four years. I know how a bad night can go, hopefully that’s all this was...
Read moreI don’t usually leave reviews, but our experience here was honestly awful. When we first got seated, it took forever just to get our drink orders in, and even longer for the drinks to actually come out. Before we could even ask to order food, the waiter disappeared and didn’t come back for a long time to finally take our food order.
While we were waiting (still no food), it started raining, so they moved us inside. Fine, understandable — but then the waiter comes up and tells us we only have 40 minutes at this new table and must leave by then. Seriously? We weren’t supposed to be there that long in the first place — the only reason the experience was dragging out was because of how slow and disorganized they were.
Even after being reseated, our food STILL hadn’t come out. We tried to order another round of drinks while we waited, and although they handed us a menu, no one ever came back to take the order. When the waiter finally showed up again, he denied taking our drink order, saying there was a “priority” group coming in and we had to leave. To make things worse, the food was mediocre for that long of a wait.
By far the worst service I have ever received. Absolutely unacceptable — there are too many good restaurants out there to waste...
Read moreHip, bustling joint in the East Village that is usually made up of mostly 20/30 somethings though the crowd tends to skew younger. Food isn’t bad at all, it’s a great brunch spot for those who had a wild night out before. Servers are pretty quick and bartenders are great. Lots of beautiful people who enjoy dining here, sure beats going to that jacks wife whatever place that’s been trapping people via fake reviews/IG/tiktok.
Definitely recommend their take of the espresso martini, which seems to be the bars favorite. Also, they have slushee margaritas and frose which also seem to be the peoples favorites. I even saw a guy gulp down 4 espresso martinis in a matter of 30 minutes, I don’t know how he was so composed.
Downside is the restaurant is a bit small and the bathrooms get bad really quick. One of the toilets didn’t even flush, so good luck if you’re going anything other than number 1 because you’ll be leaving evidence behind.
Has an outdoor area but it’s suffocating sitting out there rather than being inside. Also, the doors are impossibly hard to open because they may not oil those doors to work as intended. But after all these, it’s a great time to...
