Came for the âfamous oystersâ⌠left with directions to another bar
Was really looking forward to trying their famous oysters â you know, the ones they hype up everywhere. Showed up ready to indulge⌠only to be told they were âall outâ after a busy day. No heads-up, no sign, just a casual referral to their sister spot 20 minutes away. Because obviously, thatâs what you want after sitting down hungry â a seafood scavenger hunt. đ
Hi there â appreciate the spirited reply.
Totally understand that oysters can sell out, and Iâm glad to hear business is good. My review wasnât meant to attack the restaurant, just to reflect my experience. I stopped by specifically for the oysters â not because they were advertised as the main attraction, but because theyâre what youâre known for and what a lot of people come in excited to try.
There really wasnât a need to lecture me on calling ahead. Most customers donât do that unless itâs a special event â we just show up trusting the menu will be available.
Also, your team member mentioned that running out of oysters on Mondays is a common thing. If thatâs the case, maybe itâs something that can be planned for a little better. Inventory management is part of the game.
Anyway, nothing personal â just honest feedback from a customer who showed up hungry and left disappointed....
Read moreBought a pulsd deal for brunch. When I was Googling this restaurant, John Doe the restaurant kept popping up so don't get confused! I guess they may be affiliated but one is near Tribeca and this restaurant is in Midtown. The place was somewhat empty but I think it's because this place is sort of new and tucked away on W 44th St., away from all the touristy places. My husband and our friend had a nice brunch here. Everything tasted really good. My husband was happy that his steak was so big and it was well seasoned as well.
You need to have patience because when we arrived it seemed one girl was making drinks, checking our vax cards, seating people and taking orders all by herself. Then we met another lady who seemed to be the cook but she also was the manager. It was supposed to be bottomless but our first drink took awhile to arrive and then we had to get someone's attention for our second glass. Then it seemed our 60 minutes were up so we didn't order any more. The drinks were good. I decided I'm not a Bloody Mary fan but it was good with the food. The Irish breakfast was very interesting. Didn't know what pudding was until today. I would recommend this place. It's nice and quiet. The staff are very nice and accomodating. Try...
Read moreLocated next to the entrance of the Mansfield Hotel in midtown Manhattan, Jane Doe is a restaurant that specializes in Italian dishes and comfort food. One aspect we particularly enjoyed about the restaurant was its layout, with a separate bar area from the main dining floor.
To begin our meal, we ordered a bottle of Pinot Grigio and a Margherita flatbread. Unfortunately, the flatbread never made it to our table due to a staff oversight. As a result, we deducted one star from our overall experience.
For our main courses, I opted for the black linguine with shrimp and calamari, while my partner selected the grilled Branzino with vegetables and mashed potatoes. Both dishes were delicious and clearly made with fresh ingredients.
To conclude the meal, we indulged in fried cheesecake accompanied by a scoop of ice cream. All in all, it was a satisfying dining experience. Despite the mishap with the appetizer, our waiter made up for it by providing bread and butter. We found her to be genuinely friendly and helpful, addressing our questions about the menu and ensuring our orders were taken care of. In light of this, we restored the lost star.
We look forward to returning to Jane Doe in order to explore more of their...
