Guys, meet Ashley. Aka the manager of this fine establishment. Firstly, it’s holiday season. I do not want to spend my money at any establishment that does not value me as a customer. I went there to pick a few last minute things I needed for my podcast. I was apparently standing in the wrong place for the line. I approached Ms Ashley and asked her, because she looked like she worked there so I knew she might know. I said “excuse me miss, I’m looking for..” Ashley cut me off before I could even get the words out of my mouth. Rudely, she replied: “THE LINE STARTS OVER THERE.” She yells, pointing at the area where I guess the line was meant to begin. I tried again since my question was not about the line. I said, “Excuse me miss. Do you know where I could find—“ Again, I was cut off and rudely interrupted. She met me with more aggression. “I SAIDDD THE LINE IS OVER THERE!!!!” She yelled again. I couldn’t believe the level of disrespect and intolerance I was receiving from someone who was the manager of the entire establishment. I stood there in shock for a second. I quietly joined the line where I was supposed to stand when it was my turn at the register, Ashley began to taunt me. “NOW it’s your turn you can go now. Nextttt!” Before I could get a word out again. In my head, I silently decided I was gonna write a review as soon as I left Five Below. I tried to discreetly take a picture of her for my review but she saw the flash and became even more irate. “Why the f*ck are you taking pictures of me?!!” She yelled for the entire store to hear. I proceeded to tell her I was writing a review about her attitude and behavior towards me and how I couldn’t believe she was the manage behaving in this manner especially on 5th avenue and so close to holiday season at that. I really do love five below. So this is a tough one. One, it’s an awesome store with great discounted prices and quality items. So now I have to ask myself do I continue to shop here bc I like the store even though I was treated like garbage at that location? I’m not sure. I’m gonna really think about it. Bc if this is who five below trusts to put in charge, that makes me question the integrity of the entire...
Read moreFor a thift store junkie like me, discovering a new shop - a whole new cheap-sale viewpoint - is akin to discovering Atlantis. 5 Below's merchandise is priced at.... well mostly less than 5 bucks. It's a clean, bright, energetic store that even smells new. Their items are not dusty remnants nor are they sub par name brands that fell off a truck. The merch is clean and new and seems specially made for the store (although it's not) . 5 Below is not tremendously large but it has lots of nooks and crannies with hidden treasure. It reminds me a little of Flying Tiger but less planned and less cutsie. Merchandise highlights here include a few dozen very cute, colorful, and very funny t-shirts for $5, a large wireless speaker and headphone section, a vast makeup area, great school and art supplies, a candy department that is home to both decent quality chocolate bars and '80s nostalgia sweets (Poprocks, anyone?). Lastly, they have a NYC souvenir department that includes very unique and dirt cheap giftees for the friends back home. A bluetooth speaker adorned the NYC skyline for 5 bucks? That's what I'm...
Read moreVery nice staff. Competes with Jack's 99 Cent World, Family Dollar, Odd Lots, etc., although at a smaller inventory size. The theme is most everything at $5 or below, everything between a few cents to $10. This place is a breath of fresh air given Fifth Avenue & its ritziness- it could just be an overpriced junk tourist trap- but it has some nice snacks, housewares and electronic accessories. Everything might be priced a smidgen higher than in your home neighborhood, but it is a prime location- and if you're a local worker or tourist you won't feel ripped off- for the area the prices are very good, while you highly overpay at most area establishments anyway. You need to make a first reconnaissance trip- odds are you'll find something worthwhile, and most important- you'll commit to mind their inventory selection for future needs... especially because the inventory is not humongous- will save a trip searching for something not in inventory. Bottom line, it's cute- and worth a...
