Innovating the cookie game!
Part cookie, part pie - I was confused at the start. Let me break it down for you (no pun intended).
The bottom of the pie crust cookie is where the “pie” part comes in. It is a disc of pie crust. The kind that is flaky and in layers.
On top you have their cookie dough that forms the shell.
Inside the shell, there is a filling, just like a pie! I got a chocolate one which had a filling similar to a ganache.
I also got the cream cheese guava one which was filled with exactly what it sounds like. On the outside of this cookie was a sugar cookie type dough.
I also got a classic cookie to try it out. I believe it was the butter toffee and it was great! Buttery. Rich toffee flavor. Came right from the oven so they had to see if they were cool enough to serve. The freshest a cookie can be! Yum.
I appreciate they bake everything right there on site. It also looks like they package their cookies. I’d imagine these are sold in stores? Looked like they were preparing gift boxes. Great idea!
I’ll be back for...
Read moreUntil today I was a regular and enjoyed the cookies and coffee at Janie's. The cookies are fine, but the attitude of the cashier is simply astounding. When I specified instructions on how I like my latte (the ice machine has been down for over a month), he belittled me and tried to correct me on how I ordered my drink. I was only specifying due to the fact that the other barista has made it hot when I ordered iced. He then became upset that I was listening to music through headphones (after I had ordered) and hadn't heard him the first time he had asked if I still wanted a cookie, apparently wanting to clarify I had ordered just 2 minutes before. He proceeded to say "that if someone is in front of you, you need to pause your music. That's what's wrong with you." Appalled and disgusted with his behavior, I left the cookie and drink on the counter and wished him a pleasant day. Unfortunately, Janie's lost a loyal customer and I will not be returning until this gentleman is no...
Read moreI participated in the TooGoodToGo program for the 2nd avenue location. I was looking forward to trying her pastries after hearing about the owners story. However I will never try them again. The pastries I received were missing pieces and broken. The bag I received the pastries in had soaked up so much grease from the pastries that it was practically falling apart. Thankfully I had brought another bag with me otherwise the pastries would have fallen all over. I paid 7$ for a 21$ worth bag. I unfortunately could not eat anything due to it being so greasy looking and the broken pieces were off putting.I know that TooGoodToGo’s message is fighting food waste. However, everything I received should have been tossed to the garbage not given to customers this is not what the program is about. Very disappointed. If I could give it zero...
