Take heed of the most recent reviews. I’m not a big eater and am sensitive to the current climate but to charge $11.50 for a chicken roti and only provide 3 small pieces of meat and 1 potato is absurd. I’ve been here plenty of times but didn’t recognize the older man that was overseeing the counter my last visit. He watched the server’s ever move while plating my orders and the customer ahead of me.
I really liked Jenny’s and have consistently sent dozens of people their way but if they’re cutting corners like this upfront, I will no longer patron or recommend them.
It’s disheartening to see the responses to similar reviews. While I didn’t see the need to point out the obvious, it’s not the customer’s responsibility to ask for what they’re paying for.
Note the pricing on the menu board because the older gent will try his hardest to overcharge you. It's legit! Having never heard of Jenny's, I was apprehensive based on the mixed reviews but I'm glad I tried them. The fare is authentic, and the service is super friendly and welcoming. They didn't have aloo pie or bake available when I arrived however the owner was kind enough to prepare fresh bakes for me. I ordered a chicken roti, bake with salt fish, bake & shark and bake with smoke herring. Everything was piping hot, fresh and amazing! Pricing is reasonable and they also carry a number of packaged Trini treats (pepper sauce, candy, etc). Parking is a little tricky in front but not impossible. Takeout only. I'll...
Read moreIve always tried to support local carribean restaurants and although my order via GRUBHUB was not available and what I received with my $30 order was not what I imagined. Meaning the food lacked flavor and tasted stale...as if it had been sitting and reheated a couple times over before I received it.I still gave a second chance. On my first visit to the restaurant, aside frome the male employee who always has a sour face and doesnt greet you ....I observed an employee adding water to the curry goat, explaining the lack if flavor in the order I had placed through GRUBHUB. Still, I made about 4 more visits only getting their DHAL POUREE and Tamarin Sauce. Tonight was my last visit! The owner Im assuming attempted to get a bit snippy and out of character to me a customer on private call, when I made reference to the inconsistences in pricing of one of there items. Your lack of overhead has nothing to do with me as a customer. If you payed more attention tobthe taste of your food versus the pricing of your condiments, you might have line out the door. YES ....LIKE I WAS ADVISED ..."WHEN I GO TO BROOKLYN"I WILL GET REAL TAMARIN SAUCE NOT SYRUP AND WATER AT $1.75 IN A DISPOSABLE KETCHUP CONTAINER. I just feel sorry for all the Non Carribean customers who know NO better as far as...
Read moreI hate to do this but it has to happen for what I experienced food wise not customer service wise. The customer service top notch but even though the forgot to tamarind sauce on my order but that is a non-issue the problem with this place was the food. Listen i like to eat and I will travel out of my way to get food and I did travel to get this bake and saltfish I've been craving the doubles and let's not forget the puhlorhi (hope I spelt that right) well anyway the bake and saltfish bland and flavorless and the bake might as well had been a crepe folded in half they didn't have pulorhi which hurt my heart and I thought the saving grace would be the doubles but I was wrong and to make it worse I asked for everything to be spicy the man behind the counter says I got you looks at me and says I'm going to give you the house peppa sauce. Thought I was in for a spicy treat with a likkle sweet tart twang from the tamarind sauce I got neither. The messed up thing is the food was bad enough not to want to go back and try them again and I always give...
