Literal hole in the wall (no indoor seating, just 2 standing tables outside) but the food is damn good so if you're getting take out it's great. I got the meaty boy double and cheese fries to go and the burger was still hot (not just warm, but hot like it was fresh off the grill) and juicy when I finally got home an hour later so that's pretty efficient packaging. The cheese fries cooled down but what can you do.
The burger was juicy, well seasoned, and flavorful. Very greasy but I don't know how much of that is from the burger and how much is from the bacon (I'd assume mostly from the later but I'd had to go again and get a different burger to confirm). Fries are crinkle cut which aren't my favorite but they were still well cooked, closer to the crispy end of the spectrum without being hard. The cheese fries comes with cheese sauce (typical nacho cheese type sauce), fried shallots, grilled onions, and chipotle mayo. Messy but tasty.
Prices are pretty fair, competitive for the area. Service was very fast too, my order took less than 10 minutes on a Saturday evening. Might be my new favorite smash burger place on the lower east side. I'd definitely go back and try their other menu items some other time. A double is good for me but I'm a huge fat ass so a single might be enough for most...
Read moreEasily one of the best smash burgers in New York! We had the double knockout burger, which an amazing balance of flavors! I especially LOVED the slight kick from the jalapeno. Usually I like to keep my smash burger pretty simple because most places have a hard time balancing toppings but this is a burger that knows EXACTLY how to balance its flavors. Easily in my top three smash burgers in the city! After we ate the knock out, my friend and I shared a double “I’d Hit That” which is their burger with truffle mayo and im not usually a truffle guy but this burger literally stayed with me the rest of the day. Going back to what I said earlier, these guys know exactly how to balance their flavors/toppings to keep the flavor of the meat at the center of attention but also add their own zesty twist. The service was also INCREDIBLE. There’s no indoor seating, as you order at a window and then they hand you the food, but there are a few tables on the street you can stand at. The girl at the counter/window was friendly, checked on us mid meal, and even offered to slice the second burger for us because she knew we were sharing. This is such a great place and I know im gonna have to grab a burger EVERYtime I go...
Read moreOverall a good experience! There's no real "dine-in" experience to speak of - you ring the buzzer at the order window, and pickup from another. There are a couple of standing tables outside that you can use to eat on (not ideal in the cold, but we made due). The burgers I ordered, the eponymous Knockout Burger and the I'd Hit That Burger, were both very tasty. The patties are super thin, and super crispy, with a decent amount of seasoning. The pickles were of the sweeter bread and butter variety, which I liked, but just be aware of that. I think they worked a little more effectively on the I'd Hit That Burger, as a foil for the black Truffle mayo and the white American cheese. The knockout sauce that accompanied the knockout burger was tasty, if also a little on the sweet side. I will say that the crinkle cut French fries were some of the better crinkles I've had in recent memory, with great flavor and a...
