The food is good, affordable, and the staff are nice. If you're not a new yorker, note that you will be talked at and hear your order yelled to the cooks; the staff's kindness is shown in their patience and communication.
Expect to be in the way when ordering and standing; as the place is small. Do not stand on the left side of the ordering station; staff need to enter and exit to deliver food/ clean. There's usually a large crowd/ a lot of traffic and its hard to get a table most days; first-come, first-served. Want a seat? Be nice to the current patrons and wait for them to offer their table. Be self-aware and mindful or you will be bumped/ given looks for leaning over people when they eat. Consider ordering ahead and taking it to go; wait time varies.
A note related to previous customers of women in a large group on May 1st, 2025. About 5+ women were very rude to customers and staff. They hogged three tables, stood in the way of staff serving customers, made ignorant remarks, and were incredibly loud. One of the younger woman in their group got up and put her face very close to my soup when staff were bringing it to me; staff will yell out your ticket number if you are dining in person. You have to say it's your order for it to be brought to your table. This woman, who I don't know, stares me in the eye as she leans close to my food. It almost makes me question if she tried to spit in it; not sure. If she reads this, lef mi an mi mada wan uman. No cause problems weh yuh cyaan fix. Wi did a mind wi own. So go weh.
Also, to another group that came after. If you're going to photograph and record everything, please ask before doing so. Also clarify why you are recording. Instead of zooming in on people, snapping photos, and following...
Read moreI finally got around to coming here after knowing about it for a while, and it was the perfect place to come here because it was really cold outside and a bowl of hot noodle soup was great. I got the spicy beef noodle soup, and I actually had to wait a bit for it to come out which was a good sign because that means they make it fresh. But, the environment of this restaurant is just very...stressing. The lady literally yells out the order to the back, and the entire restaurant can hear. And she doesn't have a soothing voice. She's literally screaming towards the back, and a few times she was in the middle of the restaurant yelling to the back. Very unprofessional and it's the first time I've ever witnessed that in ANY restaurant. It was just a very uncomfortable place to eat because I was afraid that she was going to just randomly yell. Anyway, the food was actually pretty decent. My noodles were chewy although a bit thin - I got the knife-cut noodles. I really enjoyed the soup; it was really savory but I suspect MSG usage. The meat was really flavorful and delicious, and there were actually a lot of noodles. I wish there were more vegetables though! Definitely a lot of food and I really liked the noodles. I drank all the soup because it tasted great, and I finished my bowl very happily. Then, I went up to pay afterward, and all the prices included tax already! My delicious and non-skimpy meal was less than $7! Yay Chinatown. Honestly, the food here deserves 4 stars, but the yelling environment makes it a very uncomfortable place to eat. I would recommend getting it to-go, but who knows if the noodles would get soggy if you wait to bring it...
Read moreCame after a long flight from Asia to JFK with only a few diners seated and let me tell you, their #2 SPICY BEEF NOODLE SOUP really hits the spot on a chilly, wet night. You can get regular beef noodle soup but really, it's all about the spicy as it's not as good without it. No worries, it's not the majorly tongue-numbing kind. It's more the warms-you-up-nicely with a-slightly-runny nose-from-the-warmth-inducing kind. Great for the winter. Generous amount of noodles and meat with some veggies.
Ignore how the place looks shabby. Ignore the potential violations in hygiene. Ignore the prompt but indifferent service (amazingly, the lady never writes down orders). Ignore the blatant, near-physical arguments between staff. Yes, this is one of those places, one that cares little for perception or the way things are supposed to be done. There's some bluntly rough honesty in their saying, "This is who we are. What you see is what you get--no more, no less." I like that and cheap Chinese food places like Super Taste never let me down on that front. All that matters is doing what they do best: surviving by making what they know--bowls of noodle soup--and giving it to the people in exchange for moo-lah. It's strictly business: order, eat and leave. At least that's how the Chinese elders coming in roll.
Don't come here expecting the best noodle soup of your life as theirs are not spectacular nor something to gush over. Yet I can't help but always crave a bowl, especially in the dead of...
