We were in the neighbourhood for the first time ( on holiday from Australia) and only popped in to have a " look-see ". Lots of different Caribbean foods, but I was mostly interested in the Guyanese aspect as I don't usually find Guyanese cuisine in Australia ( unless I cook it!!!). So, it was a joy to gaze upon fried Bangamary, Chinese cake, Cassava pone, Miti, salera cake, tamarind balls, bread pudding, hot foods like yuh Pepperpot, Curries, Cook-up rice,,,the list is endless. And there were bottles of Casareep ,green seasoning, Achar : next time, I must remain inside the shop to actually purchase and eat . Thanks to the ladies for being helpful in explaining and ( graffing) chatting.

SHHH !! GATEKEEP !! Hidden gem šŸ’Ž for sure. Tell me why this plate pictured was only $10.. $10!!!! YES!! And it was SOOO juicy and delicious. I only ordered the jerk chicken with cookup rice and the lady asked if I wanted plantains with it.. FOR FREE ?! YES PLEASE. This place is literally like if my grandma’s kitchen was a place. If you’re Guyanese you know what I’m talking about. So many Caribbean places in the city or Brooklyn (I travel there for work and school) are so overpriced for mid food.. THIS PLACE is so cheap for such delicious heartfelt food.

The plantains and Roti were very good. The server was friendly. But.... unfortunately the oxtail was pink inside, the curry goat tasted too much like goat. Needs to either be cooked better or cleaned. The chow mein tasted like throw up at first bite.. You can tolerated if u give it time... btw now it's December 10,2023 around 640-7pm food came out to 34$....

I don’t live in the neighborhood anymore but I have fond memories of the chicken Roti. When Mrs. Kassim serves it - for me - is the only time the food is perfect for me. Something about her heart that reaches her hand in the selection of the food. It is always right.

Today although I knew better I did not wait for her. I hadn’t eaten all day in all my running around and I thought this would be a satisfying meal. I traveled out of my way to get there. So the young lady served me. And I was not pleased. I was hungry but not pleased. After the initial hunger wore off - I began to lament the slapdash of it all. There was just meat thrown in the plate not a little piece of potato or a couple of Channa beans to make you feel that you are truly enjoying a meal. Just meat and gravy and not even a variation in the choice of the parts. No love thrown in. Just three pieces of chicken leg. Not even a piece of thigh or a piece with some bone for variety of taste.

I also bought a currant roll even though I have been spoiled by Hammons Bakery in Brooklyn with the warmth and sugary softness if their offering. But seeing the currant roll I got a bit nostalgic. (Haven’t been to Hammonds in Maybe 6 months). I know better, but I succumbed. Big mistake! The dough rock hard and the currants taste sour. Big disappointment I won’t be going out of my way for this again, I like the pleasure of eating always...

Let's start with the customer service it was awful, from the staff to the owner it was just repulsive. I went to buy a cake from when I called they said the cake was $12 when I got there they said it's $20, ok that's fine I still got it while ordering I was asking the young lady to see the types they have and the prices on the different sizes and while showing me she was getting upset the owner then proceeded to start laughing an talking about me with her workers saying that she should buy me a tray of eggs to bake my own cake regardless of the service I got the black cake and the fruit cake. The fruit cake was just so horrendous it was box cake she added a raisins too and the black cake tasted like raw flour and butter. Ma'am I hope you see this review and know that if I could go back and bought my own eggs I'd bake my own cakes. NOT ONLY ARE YOU RUDE BUT SO IS THE YOUNG LADY THAT WORKS THERE THE TIME YOU TAKE TO GIVE YOUR CUSTOMERS SARCASM YOU SHOULD CLEAN THAT PLACE A LITTLE BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE IT NEEDS A GOOD SCRUBBING...

I have been going here with my granny since I was 7 years old. It had been owned by the same person ever since and the baked good and service has remained the same.

We have never had a complaint here. The place is extremely clean and we'll kept, the service is great and the bread is delicious!

It is hard to find parking in this area, most people double park but I guarantee you'll get a ticket. There's usually a line but they also always take care of it quickly.

I recommend the bread, the tennis roll and the sweet bread, so delicious! At Christmas time, we always call ahead and the owner saves our loaves of bread for us which is so nice because I don't know of another bakery that would do that.

I don't go to any other bakeries because I don't get the freshness and authentic west Indian style goods like I do when I go here.

This location isn't in ozone park but it's on Jamaica Avenue which is very accessible and easy to get to from...
