J & A Nail Salon — Local services in New York

So I previously had reviewed the service I had received from the nail techs but after 1/27/22 I had to seriously revise my post. I went in and was Katrina's last customer for the day. I jusy wanted to wrap my nails with acrylic and add a tip to my thumb. Easy... right? I couldn't have been more wrong. She over filed my ring finger with the machine (after applying the acrylic) and I had to pull my hand away from her twice (she was on the phone talking 🙄) as she did this finger because it burned. By the time I washed my hands before the UV gel, my nail immediately burned. When I sat down I told her it was burning. She looked at it and didn't really say anything about it. I paid and tipped generously and left. Today is 1/30/22 and my nails look horrible. The acrylic is chipping around the cuticles and in areas, my nail itself is exposed. Under a few of the nails she left chunks of acrylic. She also slide my left thumb finger with the same machine. But my biggest issue now is that my left ring finger is swollen and throbs. I can't really allow anything to slide across the base of it because it hurts so bay once in contact with anything and that sucks because I work with my fingers. Due to a doctor's appointment I was unable to make it back Friday to find out what can be done to help with the pain and Saturday was a snow storm. They're closed on Sundays but Monday I will definitely find the time to visit and see what can be done because this isn't it. I'm so disappointed because my wedding is coming up and I don't know what my finger...

After i went to the dmv i wanted a place close by to do my nails. I google mapped this place and it had really good reviews so i came here. It is very clean and every one is super friendly. They pay attention to detail and your needs. I did my pedicure and my feet tickles, she noticed that so she did everything quickly and efficiently. We laughed together about it. The lady who did my nails was very gentle but she was fast. I got acrylic tips and she did them so fast along with the french design. She also was super sweet. My feet and hands look pretty and i left with a huge smile on my face! I will always come back here! :) ... Oh another thing, when i was getting my pedicure, a client said "oh shes really really good, like REALLY REALLY GOOD!" ...... I felt comfortable and the lady was right! She is awesome! Everyone is awesome! Everyones customer service is amazing and their passion for this...

I have been coming here for a bit because the prices are affordable and some of the staff seem pretty fair, but my last visit, I had a young lady work on me who was absolutely way too ROUGH with the filing and the nail drill.

She usually has children with her, so I get her maybe being frustrated, but even after I REPEATEDLY told her she was being to rough, she continued to YANK on my hand and file roughly with the file and drill.

She actually seemed to sneer each time I pointed out it being too harsh.

She was filing so roughly that she repeatedly took the nail drill / file across my cuticles / fingers and at one point I had to pull my hands away and yell to get her to STOP.

I don't know if it's intentional or she just has ZERO awareness, but the point of coming to the salon is to be able to take a break, relax, and have an enjoyable experience.
