It must have been post opening jitters. The service still settling in. We wanted to try this new eatery to the place in lieu of were going too uh next door was too crowded.
Like the trend with all Thai restaurants these days is some iteration of modern interior space and Kati is no different. Our server seemed a bit nervous as she took our orders. We started with the Grilled Calamari. Chicken curry and Pad Prik Khing with veg duck as entrees.
What was amazing is that as soon as the order was taken, voila the chicken curry arrived at the table! Uh? We didn't get the appetizer and this is curry with beef. Of course, this wasn't meant for our table. Well, the Grilled Calamari did finally come out. Kind of meek. Lukewarm. Not very 'Grilled.' The Curry with chicken was pretty good as well as the fiery spicy Pad Prik Khing. As with all these Western Thai there must be a moratorium on Jasmine rice.
There were some pre-opening jitters and mishaps but the strong entrees gives Kati a strong try in the populous field of Thai cuisine...
Read moreThe ambience was quaint with lively colors and a chill vibe, while 2017 pop hits played in the background. Super cute! A great spot for a date, girls lunch/dinner or taking yourself out for some self-care time!
The lunch special was $14 or $15 depending on theon protein. The Spicy Basil Noodles was absolutely delicious! Spicy but not too hot, with ample amount of protein (chicken in this case). The Pad Thai sauce was off and the noodles were overcooked. We told the waiter and they made another dish of our choice. The Thai Fried Rice was tasty. They lost a star due to the Pad Thai.
The servers were excellent. One of the first questions asked inquired about allergies! Overall, the server was responsive, informative and extremely understanding. Water was brought out immediately. They told us where the restrooms were as soon as we sat down. I didn’t see Drunken Noodles on the lunch menu and they pointed me to their equivalent. As I mentioned, they handled the Pad Thai situation swiftly with...
Read moreI recently visited Kati Thai for a reunion with some college friends and from the moment we walked in, we were greeted with pleasant service and a cozy atmosphere. We were seated by the window where we could see gorgeous wall art as well as the lanterns outside. We took plenty of photos with the decor and the food surpassed our expectations (safe to say the best Thai food I've ever had). As a vegetarian, the menu was accommodating to a diverse palate and the price range is very reasonable. The owners were even sure to greet us towards the end of our meal to check in and ensure we had a memorable experience. After posting photos from here on my Instagram story, some of my friends from NYU mentioned how they love this spot as well and it's one of their go-tos due to the close proximity to their campus. I have already recommended this place to my friends and family for authentic Thai cuisine and will be sure to visit again in the...
