Visited October 2018. Getting my Asian hair colored beautifully is a tricky process to get right and when I moved to NYC 5 years ago, after a pretty frustrating and expensive journey trying out several stylists that just couldn't get my color right, I found Brittany Hartz through her amazing Insta photos...and I'm so glad I did! Brittany's Insta feed has gorgeous pics of several blonde and brunette balayage, so I felt confident that she could help me with my Asian hair. My hair needed severe color correction and after just the first session I had with Brittany, I was an instant fan and she became my go-to Stylist! Not only did I love my beautiful new hair, I also really appreciated how she really listened to my concerns and discussed in length about what I wanted to achieve, and she took the time to explain the procedures and methods she was going to use to get the hair that I wanted. Brittany has now moved on from her last salon and has just opened her own flagship place, Palms Salon. I was lucky enough to get my hair done at Palms on their opening day and again, I am so, so, so happy with my hair! Palms is in a large, gorgeous studio and Brittany's team is also wonderful, shout-out to Sheyla - thank you. I also sat next to another client who had just got her first balayage ever, it looked so beautiful! If you need an amazing stylist, I couldn't recommend Palms highly enough.

UPDATE I visited Palms again in April 2019 and had my hair cut & styled by the delightful Jay Martin! She really listened to what I wanted to achieve with my hair and I couldn't have been happier with the results. Jay especially got those bangs cut just right - YAY! Thank you Jay :)

Also, since seeing Brittany and posting my first review here, I've only had one toner rinse since getting my hair colored and as you can see, it's still looks great...

Ariel is literally the best thing that has happened to my hair.

I have been seeing Ariel for the past 2 years and initially came to him with box-dyed (blackest black), dry, and mistreated curly hair with the hopes of going blonde. It was clear I didn't understand what that meant or how damaging it could be to my hair but, thanks to Ariel, now 2 years later ... I am the one telling my friends about products and best blonde hair practices.

Ariel totally commits to what YOU want, but also isn't the type of stylist who will A) ruin your hair in the process to get what you want or B) let you go in blindly to a hair style/color that isn't compatible with your lifestyle.

His energy and passion for what he does is infectious. Throughout my entire black to blonde hair journey, he walked me through what I needed to be doing during the 6-8 week period before my next appointment with him. He has taught me SO much. He also provided product breakdowns specific to my hair and weekly hair regimes to keep it healthy, all accompanied by a reminder that we were getting closer to my goal EVERY appt... and we were! Without compromising the health of my hair.

He has great stylist sense in every sense -- hair judgement, techniques, and what's in style. Knowing when to push the boundary and knowing when to take a break. & don't even get me started on the magical mixing he does to get to the color you want in the end.

Just go see him. You'll see what I'm talking about. You will be in great hands and your money will be well worth spending on your hair as long as it's him

I had the pleasure of having my hair done by the one and only Ariel Jara. Who is an absolute god send and a genuine pro in his trade! He took about 20 min at least just discuss my hair goals, needs and wants. This was incredibly refreshing and made a huge impact on my results and experience. In the past stylist usually just ask for a picture or generally what you want without delving into specific hair questions about the client. Ariel listened to the details about the type of hair I have, how I manage it and how I would like for him to handle my hair. This is especially important for someone like me who is very particular and sensitive with my hair (32inches of long black hair). He was able to offer the best hair treatment, Argan Stem Cell treatment, for my goal of trying to get the shine, life and bounce back into my long dry lived in hair. I asked for long textured thick layers that gave my hair more body and bounce yet remained long without any thinning/wispy pieces or sections. HE GAVE ME MY DREAM HAIR and gave it back the health, life and body I always wanted.

I already made an appointment for a trim and another session of stem cell treatment! He’s made a regular client out of me! He is a highly recommended, respected, salt of the earth, talented stylist, and 100% worth...
