This place is just great. Friendly staff and great food. Very accommodating and attentive.
A little story: We came in for brunch on a Saturday at noon and had 6 waiting for a table. We totally expected to wait because there aren’t a ton of places for brunch in this neighborhood and most are pretty small. While we waited there was a 4 top table that had 3 people (seemed like 2 visiting parents and their daughter maybe) who had just gotten their check so we figured we’d wait and push a couple of tables together. Well, they proceeded to sit for 30 minutes, talking and sipping water and ordering nothing else. The host/waiter finally went over and she mentioned that there were many people waiting to be seated and that if they weren’t going to order anything else she could really use the table. Well, holy cow, the dad was super offended that she even asked. He went as far as telling the bartender that he wished he could take his tip back. He said that they had lost a patron “for life” and that he would definitely be enlisting his daughter to help him write a review.
Well, here’s my review dude. You are the epitome of an entitled old white guy. The host was neither rude, nor was she out of line. You sat there like it was your living room for a full 30 minutes after finishing brunch having your daughter walk you through how Bumble works on her phone. You didn’t order anything else and the place was busy. You couldn’t have cared less that there were other people waiting and when it was pointed out you acted as though she’d spit in your food. I will never understand why people feel like the world revolves around them in this way. There was another table of 2 guys who the host also asked to move over one table to make things work and they just did it and were cool about it.
I am thankful that the host tried so hard to make things work for us. As far as I could tell she was trying to do that with everybody. She was kind and she was cool and she didn’t even know us. She just wanted to make things work. I am thankful for people like her. Not just because it happened to help us but because she probably likes to do that for anyone and that is awesome.
You have won a patron “for life” and you know what? I actually LIVE in the neighborhood and appreciate how hard working in a...
Read moreWent to this place a time or two with a friend a few years ago. With its drool worthy menu, extensive draft list on the wall, woodsy-rustic atmosphere, and nice get drunk music - I can say it left a good impression with me. I always said I would return but you know life happens and then so did the pandemic. My friend and I always worried about the place, how it held up, bars was shuttering left and right. It was all a big unknown in general in NYC. I did one manage to pass by and saw a the big drawn on front window stating they were still open and feeding their Flatbush family. To say I was relieved was an understatement. I loved the staff, the service, and the vibe and didn't want it to go. Flash forward to last night, my friend and I decided to return and they were open and lively as they were the first visit. We ordered their accurately named pandemic punch (rum punch), an amaretto sour, a shot of jack swirled with honey, and for food we opted for catfish tacos and the little M*Fers (4 cheeseburger sliders). I don't know what magic went into that sauce (Mayo?) on the catfish but its out of this world. We also asked for a cup on the side to dabble on the well seasoned sliders. Years later I still love the food and drinks here. This is definitely my go to spot for good bar food and strong drinks. I am not sure if it had to do with the time of night (We were there 11PM and there) but the food menu seem very limited - maybe 6 items that was finger food-esq. I would like to go there a little earlier and see if the menu is a little diff (I'm hoping!) Nonetheless this place is every much worth the visit. If you ever in the neighborhood or not too far for the trip do go. I plan to return soon and not let so much time pass by between...
Read moreSpent about forty minutes at Midwood Flats spring 2023. I thought I was going for one drink, however I happily stayed much longer than planned.
The ambience is super cozy with nice mood lighting but this isn't what this review is about.
I requested French fries. The staff member who was having a bite at the time showed me her nachos and said that was all they had as the kitchen was about to close. (late night). I agreed to it thinking I was getting just the potato chips.
I was taken aback when she served a loaded bowl of nachos exactly like hers. Trying to be polite I thought, I'll take a few bites before I put it aside. I Ate The Entire Bowl! It was delicious! I wasn't hungry but it's like the P R I N G L E S ad says, once I popped I couldn't stop. I think it's nachos, cheese, black beans, listen at this point I cannot remember but I'm here to encourage you to order that when you visit. Thank me via compliment later. Like for reals.
Staff didn't smile once BUT WAS NICE. (I wanna learn that method as I walk around grinning at folks for no damn reason.) She was so super cool. Good...
