I wanted to like this place, the sushi/roll was fine and the tempura was okay as well (nothing special but alright for the price) but I ordered an oyakodon and got something that was totally not that.
Oyakodon is one of my favorite rice bowl orders at a Japanese restaurant so I know it is usually a breaded cutlet or katsu sitting on a saucy scrambled egg with onion & scallion. They served me a pan-seared boneless chicken thigh with a side of cabbage, carrot and radish and a fried egg on top — no sauce either. I was so confused when I got it that I couldn’t even complain. I thought to myself, maybe this is a different type of oyakodon? But as I was eating I also Googled what an oyakodon is just to confirm and there is NOTHING that looks like what I was served. It honestly did not even taste close to any other oyakodon I’d ever eaten. Truly confused, it felt like they didn’t even know their own menu item and maybe hastily searched what an oyakodon was. It would hVe been alright with me if the meal was flavorful but it just didn’t taste like much else than barely seasoned grilled chicken and veggies. I personally hate food waste so I took 2 bites and packed the rest because from the first strange bite I decided I would just turn it into a fried rice at home.
On top of that, the service was pretty lackluster. I’m not asking for much but no one ever refilled our waters despite eating there for at least 30-40 mins (this is a big service industry no-no) and it was difficult to get anyone’s attention at all for even asking for the check. I have experience in both a professional kitchen setting and the food service industry and was honestly...
Read moreWalked in an empty restaurant and ordered the bento box, chicken katsu. Waiter did not ask if I wanted anything to drink and had to ask for water after salad and soup had been served and eaten. Waited 20 minutes before the bento box arrived and was very impressed with the portion. However, as I started to eat the chicken, it was lukewarm at best, so I took one of the shumai dumplings and it was less than lukewarm, so I tasted a piece of the tempura and it was also lukewarm. The only hot food on the plate was the rice. I complained to the waitor and he asked if I wanted something else. After waiting so long for the food I said no and he had the nerve to say "I'll just charge you for the soup and salad." I said I'm not paying for anything and walked out. Worst Japanese place I've ever been to and I go to a Japanese restaurant at least twice a month. Don't get all the great reviews about this place. Must have been an off night because I would have given it 1/2 a star just because they do serve large portions. But large portions of crap...
Read moreWe ordered delivery few times. I called to order salmon teriyaki lunch and any two rolls lunch special last Saturday. I asked the casher if I can switch the salad and cali roll to dumplings, she said Yes. However, I got shrimp teriyaki with veggie roll and two pieces of steamed broccoli. I called back and the cashier told me that I agreed when she repeated my order over the phone. I don’t think she repeated my order. Then another guy told me “they cannot switch the cali roll and salad to dumplings but they can redeliver salmon and take back the shrimp, however, their JUMBO shrimp costs $2 per piece, they don’t make money for this meal, do you understand? do you understand?”!!! I was like……does it have anything to do with me? Close your business if you don’t make money. It was very disappointed, and I do not wanna their food...
