I come to town three times a month for business purposes, and I simply cannot come home without bringing my daughter your mushroom soup. This bakery is absolutely the best experience, but unfortunately on my last visit on March 12, around 9:45 am there was a young man with long hair who was extremely rude to me..
I am aware that the menu is frequently updated, and soups are not prepared until after a certain time, typically around 9:30. Upon my arrival, the usual level of crowding was moderate, but the establishment always maintains a smooth flow. I decided to approach the side to inquire about the readiness of the soups, in order to avoid make a line if the soup was not ready. . However, this gentleman rolled his eyes and instructed me to go to the end of the line. I chose to disregard his rudeness and proceeded to join the line... When it was my turn, I apologized for my earlier question, as I had bo problem joining the line if the soup was ready. However, he completely disregarded my apology and said, "What do you want?" This was quite rude and unprofessional. I responded, " wow, Your service is excellent, do you have the mushroom soup?" To which he replied, "No."What else you want.
On that particular day, they had a delightful honey rose chai on the menu that caught my attention. I was eager to sample the Newyoker sandwich, but unfortunately, with that type of attitudeno one will want to ask anything else. So, I inquired if they would be preparing the soup today, so I could return later on. The response was, "I don't work in the kitchen, I dont know" I respectfully asked if someone could find out, but was met with a firm refusal. "No, I can't move from here"
That was enough for me. So I asked him ... Can i ask someone else? He completely ignored me, so I decided to head towards the coffee station. As soon i stepped, I encountered a gentleman who I believe is responsible for cleaning the establishment. He possessed a higher level of education than the cashier and informed me that he wouldn't be able to provide information but he led me to another gentleman, who was extremely polite, and he kindly informed me about the soups of the day, leak and potatoes. Unfortunately, he mentioned that they would not be preparing the mushroom soup on that day.
I have visited this French bakery twice on a particular day. On my first visit, I was informed that they were not yet ready. I decided to take a stroll around the area as I needed to pick up a soup for my daughter. Upon returning, I was greeted with a less than pleasant demeanor from the employee. This behavior made me lose interest in any other purchases from the establishment.
. I believe that if someone is not in the mood to interact with customers, it might be more suitable for them to work in the back where they won't be disturbed and won't need to disrupt someone else's business due to their bad day.
This place, despite this unfortunate experience, is truly exceptional. It is an authentic French bakery with everything at the highest standards. I would definitely recommend it and plan to return, hoping not to encounter the unpleasant and...
Read moreI recently embarked on a delicious adventure to the shop called L'Ami Pierre, with dreams of devouring a heavenly baguette and indulging in some delightful tarts. Alas, my journey took an unexpected turn! The baguette I encountered was a bit of a dough monster, heavy and laden with an overabundance of bread fluff. It had more dough than a clumsy magician pulling endless handkerchiefs out of a hat! Needless to say, this was not the French baguette of my dreams. And as for the tarts... oh dear, they were the same old, same old. Variety seemed to be on an extended vacation.
But that's not all, folks! The real kicker was the staff's encyclopedic ignorance about the ingredients in their own products. When I dared to inquire about the cheese used, wondering if it contained rennet or animal-derived enzymes, I was met with bewildered looks that could rival a confused squirrel pondering the meaning of life. Apparently, my cheese query was a bit too philosophical for their taste!
All jokes aside, my experience at L'Ami Pierre left me craving more... in the best way possible. While I appreciated the effort put into the shop's presentation, the baguette's lackluster performance, the predictable tart selection, and the staff's ingredient amnesia were far from satisfying. I believe a little improvement in these areas would sprinkle some extra magic into the mix and make customers like me truly dough-lighted.
So, dear L'Ami Pierre, take this whimsical review as a lighthearted plea for tastier baguettes, a tart lineup that dances with variety, and a staff that possesses the ingredient wisdom of a culinary wizard. May your future endeavors rise like a perfectly baked soufflé, bringing joy and culinary excellence to all who...
Read moreOn a second visit for breakfast on 9/28/23 I was throughly disappointed ☹️ The pastries all had a psychedelic glaze that made them truly unappetizing. No sandwiches on sight - now they are made to order - which an overworked, skeleton crew of two would have taken 1/2 an hour to make not to mention the baguettes looked like they had been taking Ozempic: skinny and overbaked. I ordered a premade croissant with scrambled eggs, which I asked to be reheated but that was not possible since their only toaster oven was out of order. Nothing can be more nauseous than cold scrambled eggs, so took one bit and left the rest. The cafe au lait was DOA. The only explanation I can have for this precipitous fall from grace is that the original owner of this place is no longer there.
I never had a baguette that tasted this good before, even though my local French patisserie has inspired a pilgrimage. But after a bite of Lodi’s brie and turkey sandwich so sublime, this will be my new place of worship. Their baguette has a thin crust that does not scratch the palate and a soft crumb that gently cede the stage to the filling. The interior was well appointed, well lit and relaxed, while the staff was courteous and well trained. The only suggestion I have is to write all the sandwiches names on the overhead board-with a description. During my visit there were only two sandwich names on the board and five different offerings on the counter. For a place built on efficiency if one starts asking questions to the cashier about what are the other three, this tends to slow the line and increase the sound of tapping...
