I checked in via my app for HHonors and was to receive a digital key. By 2:30 pm we got one digital key. I had reservations for 2 rooms. Both were premier corner city view with 2 beds. So went straight to the room around 3:02pm, Digital key not working. Had to call security. He was pleasant but then asked me what I planned on doing about it? Well obviously I have to go to the front desk and ask because what else am I supposed to do . Go to front desk to inquire about 2nd room and digit keys which is to be check in ready at 3:00pm. 2nd room not ready, staff had to call about getting one ready. Front desk apologized but I wont say its ok because its not. Turns out we had 2 separate floors which is fine but I had to take a separate elevator from the rest of my party. So we couldnt just go up and down on 1 elevator we had to go the whole way to the lobby walk across the the next set. I figured being 2 rooms under the same they could have placed us closer. But at almost $500 a night I expect to be checked in on time and keys working. Room service was great, prices for it is typical New York. Meatball sandwich was hard and dry but the rest was good. Bellmen were great except loading our luggage, I have an automatic trunk and he kept trying to force it close even after I told him it wouldnt work and he was going to break my back window cover which eventually popped off its track. After him trying 3 times and basically telling him to move so i could do it before breaking it, we were on our way home, but he was super nice and trying his best. Also thought for the price we couldve had a $30 single cup coffee maker. Also even after 3 nights the digital keys never worked even though the front desk said they would. The wifi is not that great either. Luckily I was running around most of the day but the other ladies in my group were older and just...
Read moreNew York is where I stayed in Manhattan. All Hiltons are not created equal. I had a great two nights with good sleep in a bed with eight pillows...wonderful! I was relaxed, comfortable and happy until I realized...there was no coffee...unh! What, no coffee! I was basking in the glory of drinking my first cup of coffee after flying 6am to 10:00 am from Dallas. I was so tired. We were so tired. I was treating my best friend to a birthday trip to the big city. So, we had to leave in an hour or so to catch a Broadway show. No coffee, no food, except for our snack crackers. So, after the show, in the cab home, we got hotdogs and gyros. We spotted Starbucks, across the street and said, tomorrow we will get coffee...NOT! We had to be somewhere early the next morning, and after that we had another show. We got dinner and came back to our hotel. Our food was cold...guess what, no microwave! That was it, I called the front desk and inquired about a location of one to use. She said we can have one sent to your room. What...I was so happy to be able to eat hot food. He delivered our oven, we were so grateful and hungry. He politely asked us if there was anything else we needed, we were so hungry, we said no. Yes, it is true...we forgot to mention a coffee pot. Ugh, shame on us. We vowed to hit Starbucks on our last day before we headed back to the airport. Starbucks was wonderful!
The Hilton is a great hotel, it was just our partial bad luck and sudden memory loss that things happened that way. Yes, I would recommend the Hilton as a great place to stay, but please, ask for a coffee pot...and a microwave. Got to run, I got a Keurig at home with...
Read moreVery nice Hilton hotel in midtown. We stayed in the Hilton Club which is in the same structure as the Hilton except the Club floors are higher up. All staff we met with or talked with were very nice. Coffee & Tea (Keurig) are in all rooms for free. There are food options, a couple of bars and Hilton Club executive lounges within. By staying with the Hilton Club, you get its elevated rewards which do come in very handy if you are a not Hilton Club member and can be used throughout Manhattan. The room we stayed in, see pics, was small but efficient. I do wish the bathroom lighting had an additional bright light and there were outlets on both sides of the bed. The outlets issue is something I have noticed at many hotel or resort chains so I'm prepared for it. The only real issue is the elevators. Be prepared to sometimes wait about 5 to 10 minutes or more sometimes to get down to lobby or get up to your room. The causes are heavy traffic up and down and if there is a non-working elevator. Luckily it didn't mess up our stay or delay where we were going. They offer free internet like all Hilton's but if you really need to use it, I recommend paying for the faster connection because the free is not very fast but good enough for basic internet browsing. Lastly we stayed in early June and the humidity builds quickly so be sure to adjust your thermostat to a cool enough temp to rid the extra humidity after showering. Will definitely be returning, but as a...
