I ordered $50 worth of cinnamon rolls and had a terrible experience. I ordered 10 of them for my family and no one wanted to eat them. I sold them on the fresh beautiful pastries for breakfast and it was a completely different experience than.
They were extremely moist, practically wet and because they were package terribly picked into one tiny box squashed on top of each other almost half were breaking apart. They also don’t taste as fresh dough wise, although they said they were baked at 6 am. Most of them were also over baked with black/burnt spots. The burnt spots weren’t from the cinnamon but from rather being over baked. They use to be golden brown with bone white frosting and very crisp. When I opened the box I thought they were day old because of how they look, smell, taste.
I used to order from this bakery almost every weekend when I lived in Bushwick, this time I had a car pick them up because I am no longer in the area and wanted to support the business but this was not the experience I’m used to. They did refund the small cinnamon roll but it should not have been sent in the first place as it looked half eaten.
Update to owners response below: Adding an additional review because after the terrible experience the owner/worker is replying with no empathy, care or proper customer service. From his nasty reply you can clearly see his character. My review was 100% accurate of what I personally experienced. I am not trying to hurt anyone's business but share my experience with this bakery which I have every right to do. To add smart remarks such as maybe you uber driver ate, would be a fault on your part for not properly sealing or tapping the box, especially during covid. I was not trying to get any freebies as the money was already spent and I expected more for a $6 per cinnamon roll. Please see the bakeries response to see if this is the type of customer service you wish to experience after having a beyond disappointing experience. I was also harassed by email...
Read moreTried this place per a friend’s recommendation & was so excited bc its so close to my apartment, but was extremely displeased in the service received. The first visit, I ordered a pastry and an oat cappuccino—my usual—and paid the extra dollar or so for the substitute—which as a fellow barista, I understand and don’t mind when I’m at a shop that’s not where I work. When I got my order, I walked out and took a sip and immediately noticed the milk seemed off—way too thick of a foam for oat milk. I turned around seconds later, went in and asked if they were sure they used oat milk, and they looked at me as if I had insulted them and said “yeah, of course.” I told them I am also a barista and are they sure, to which they said yes, so I left. After another sip, I knew that was likely not the case, but maybe they used a special oat milk. So, I gave it another shot, and before ordering, I asked what brand of oat milk they used, and they told me it was just oatly—same as my shop—to which I responded with an explanation that last time I had been, my drink was made with dairy milk instead of oat like I asked/paid for. I was met with a blank, seemingly annoyed stare, and an “okay..?” then was fully charged once again for the oat milk, not offered any kind of discount or remediation, or even a mere apology for the mistake… I was honestly too stunned to know what to say, so I just took my order and went on my way. With all my years of being a barista, I understand a little mix up, but to not even acknowledge it or offer to remake the drink is just rude in my opinion.. Sadly, don’t know if it’s worth even giving this place another chance.. guess I’ll just have to make the trek to SEY to get the pastries, coffee /and service/ that I’m paying for.. onto the next one in the...
Read moreL'Imprimerie is so dear to my heart. I've lived in Bushwick for over 7 years, and this bakery has been there to support my appetite and caffeine addiction every step of the way. Having spent some time living in Paris, there is no place in New York City I've been to that comes as close to the authenticity and quality of French bakeries. What's more, they offer so many wonderful vegan options, allowing me to enjoy all of the things I loved that have dairy which I no longer consume. On top of it all, they are very queer friendly, the staff are always kind and helpful, and the coffee is a lot better than most of the other options in the area. The backyard is lovely as well. My only suggestion for improvement is stronger WiFi, because it is really very unreliable, and as much as I want to do my work there, the internet strength won't support it. If it were better, it would be my go-to remote work spot without a doubt. Regardless, this place is top-notch. A huge thank you to the l'Imprimerie staff for making such delicious food and keeping alive this gem of an institution amidst the grime and rats and pollution of this weird little neighborhood I've decided...
