JB Nail Salon — Local services in New York

I’ve been here a few times and the manager, is always very friendly and provides great service however today I left very dissatisfied. A different woman did my nails and it was not the best. She seemed annoyed and distant through most of the service which is fine if the nails are great but they weren’t. She dug her sharp nail in between my nail beds as she did each coat because she did not slow down to take her time. The polish got in my nails beds and on the tip of my thumb because of this. I asked her if she would clean it up and she said “yeah.” Then proceeded to clean some of it but not all, I still had polish on my thumb after the first ask. I asked her again to clean up the remaining polish and she seemed annoyed as she told me that she could only do so much because she was using a file at this point to remove the excess polish. Mind you, she let the polish cure onto my skin and only stopped to clean it up at the end after 3 rounds in the dryer. She dropped my hand in between each coat in a rude way instead of just saying “switch.” I don’t know if she was having a bad night but I have big work event tomorrow and am disappointed with the nails I’ll be wearing to it. it has been exactly one week since my gel mani/pedi. it was a waste of $130 and i’m so disappointed. just for context, i came in with a MONTH old gel manicure from somewhere else that had grown out a lot but had no chips or flaws. the woman who did my service was very sweet but she just did not do a good job at all.

pros: it’s an old fashioned salon. they do not use an e-file to destroy your nail beds, they use acetone for removal which is great. the people are kind.

cons: -my gel mani started chipping and peeling within ONE day. it was NYE and by the end of the night, i had lost two entire nails (they peeled off completely). within 3 days i had 4 chipped nails and 2 completely naked nails. -there is no massage here. no hand massage or foot massage or shoulder massage at the end. NONE at all. the women tapped my hands twice and called it a day. -she flooded my cuticles on my pedicure. my toes look ridiculous and round instead of sharp and square. -it was $110 before tip ($119 card)… for this neighborhood and for this quality with no massage is CRAZY. absolutely insane. -there are more but i’ll stop here.

this was a big disappointment. there are no good nail salons on this block...

Let’s start off by saying that I used to go to this place when it was Casa Polish! I USED to love it! I recently booked an appointment for 5:30pm yesterday and was waiting for a confirmation email and never got it. I called and they told me they were booked for that time. So I asked when else are they available and the lady (idk her name) said come at 7pm. So okay perfect I get there 6:50pm and she tells me there’s still 4 people ahead of me? HOW?!?! I waited patiently and it was 7:10 and nothing, mind you they close at 8. I valued their time by showing up early and patiently waiting. But they didn’t know how to value my time and on top of that charged me. I will be disputing the charge. I WILL NEVER GO...
