Well well well…where do I begin? Arrived a little early before my friend arrived, the reservation was under her name. I was greeted with a “what’s up” when I arrived. Odd no? I was then seated after I said the name of the reservation, I was then seated. After I was seated, I saw a commotion at the host stand with 3 or 4 of the workers staring at me and making comments. Then two people came over to me and said that someone had a reservation for the table I was at and I needed to be done in 90 minutes. Umm is this 2020? Are we doing indoor dining restrictions? They then claim they have a reservation after to me and that’s why I have to wrap up in 90. Even though the restaurant was EMPTY! My friend then arrives and we order. Appetizers arrive. We eat while fanning ourselves in Lido because they have NO A/C. My friend only ordered appetizers, I had a little bit of her calamari because she ordered salmon too…which I’m allergic too. I can only eat shellfish when it comes to seafood. I was surprised when the waiter brought out my food which was Trout. WHICH I AM ALLERGIC TO. I then said I didn’t order that I ordered the chop. I couldn’t remember if it was pork or lamb and I just said pork. The waiter then says we don’t make that, then I look back at the menu then correct myself. I said “I meant the lamb chop, but I wouldn’t have ordered that seafood because I’m allergic.” He then says “you’re allergic to seafood?” then took a glance at the food on the table that is calamari and salmon. Trying to insinuate I’m lying right? “Yes, I can eat shellfish, I’m allergic to all other seafood.” Why is it my thought I said trout when I said chop? He then rolls his eyes and walks away. 15 minutes later the host comes up to us and asks if we can move outside because of the “incoming” reservation. I said absolutely not, we’ll take the check so we can leave! And after that, the food wasn’t even good! Waste of time. Bad greeting, bad service, no A/C, tasteless food. 1 star for...
Read moreI was super excited to experience Lido for the first time last night as I’ve heard great things. The atmosphere was lovely; warm and inviting with an aesthetically beautiful decor. I had risotto and salmon and both were tasty. My friend also really enjoyed her spaghetti pasta. Unfortunately, while waiting at the bar for our table to be ready we had a very negative experience with the bartender (Henny?) There were three of us and all agreed that his energy, demeanor and service was very distasteful. I ordered a drink and it was almost like I was bothering him. I ordered garlic bread and he informed me that I’d have to eat it at the bar (which is 100 percent understandable. Many places adhere to the happy hour at the bar rule). But the way in which it was communicated; it was like he was speaking with a child. I informed him that the table we were waiting for would be a while; the group was still seated and drinking. I told him I’d be done with the bread and close out before the table was ready. He just looked at me and NEVER put the order in. I guess the decision was made for me. He also put the wrong order in for my friend (she ordered meatballs and calamari came out). He seemed to be very irritated when she informed him that it was meatballs that she ordered. The calamari smelled so delicious that we said we’d take it in addition to the meatballs but he refused and ordered the server to take them back. We asked, “why didn’t you just leave em? We said we’d PAY for it and the meatballs?” We just couldn’t understand what the issue was and luckily a manager came over and escorted us to another table that had opened up. I honestly believe that she sensed that we were not having a great experience and literally came and saved the day. Honestly, my experience at the bar was one of the worse I’ve had in a LONG time at an establishment. We were set to leave but the manager came just in time and I’m glad because the food and service from there on out was...

Years ago, I came across this spot on a recommendation—and it left such a lasting impression that I knew I had to return. This recent visit confirmed exactly why it earned a place on my personal list of must-try restaurants.
Nestled in Harlem, this restaurant is part of a neighborhood that has seen tremendous change over the past 30 years. While gentrification brings complex emotions, one positive is the emergence of exceptional dining experiences like this. It’s a beautiful reflection of Harlem’s evolving food scene—where history, creativity, and hospitality meet.
We visited for brunch and went with the bottomless Sangria and Mimosas. The Sangria surprised me—it was much lighter than expected, with a crisp, refreshing taste. At first, I thought it might be the white version, and the staff didn’t hesitate to bring over both so I could compare. That thoughtful touch set the tone for the entire meal. The service was friendly, prompt, and attentive without ever feeling rushed.
The white polenta was everything I hoped for—smooth, creamy, and full of flavor. It brought back all the good memories from my first visit. The braised short rib was melt-in-your-mouth tender and incredibly flavorful. These are the kinds of dishes that show real care and technique in the kitchen.
The atmosphere is just as inviting as the food. There’s a vibrant energy in the space—stylish yet relaxed, making it perfect for everything from a leisurely brunch with friends to a date night or special celebration.
Whether you’re a local or visiting New York City and want to explore Harlem beyond the typical tourist stops, I can’t recommend this place enough. It’s a true gem—where the food is memorable, the drinks are generous, and the service makes you feel like a valued guest. I’ll absolutely be...
