I reached out to this restaurant, The last week of August inquiring about having a party for September 27 for 40 people. I received the email immediately back with a prefix menu with seven entrées and was told to pick 5 entrees from the menu for drinks. The prefix menu is $65 per person and the drinks was $60 for two hours per person open bar. I said OK I do not mind. Moving forward, the person who handles the events was not responding to none of my Emails or phone calls. I was stoping by the restaurant to acquire about the menu had picked and to pay upfront for everything which would've been about $6,000. I got a email the first week of September asking do I still want the spot and they only accepting 34 people , I said yes, they email me back asking me again Do I want the drink menu? I told them yes, I stated that previously they never responded back they never emailed me back. I emailed them the Back and told them can someone please tell me by September 12 if I'm gonna be able to get the location because I have people traveling from different states and I have elderly people that's coming to the event so I need to know if I'm still gonna be able to have the party there, no one responded to my emails nor my phone calls. the who ever handles the event coordinating is very inconsistent and unprofessional with handling the situation. No one never respond. September 16 I get an email from whoever's answering the email saying they apologize for the inconsistency and for the lateness and not responding to me ,but I can still get the venue and they sent me a receipt showing how much I will have to pay for 34 people just for the food would've been $2,210.00 for 34ppl I said OK. A payment link was immediately sent ask her for deposit of $294.34. I paid the deposit and emailed the person right after inquiring about the drinks menu and what happen with that they never responded the next day. I emailed the venue back and told them about the Unprofessionalism the inconsistent not responding and did the owners know that they treat people that's trying to book their venue like that and having the restaurant to look bad. All I wanted to do was have a dinner for 5 hours which would've cost me $6000 and I did not mind paying upfront because of their services and I would no longer like to book with their venue. I got an email back stating and they will keep that in future mind and they apologize and I will get my refund back. I got a refund back of 235.99 not the full 290.00 deposit I paid. What was the $55.25 taken out for???? My time and patience was good I stay diligent about trying to reach out at the last minute when I received the invoice I was willing to pay and because of the unprofessionalism of this venue it cost me $55 for what ???? anyone that's looking to have a big function at this venue, you have to be very careful unless you were well know celebrity or politician. I was going to let the situation go because I truly did not care I got a restaurant which cost a little bit more but the service was awesome the people was awesome. And whoever that restaurant event planner was on top of their game, very professional professional. I get an invoice yesterday. The money from Blvd bistro has been returned and money is taken out for what for wasting my time for being...
Read moreI really wanted to like this spot. I've been here once, but years ago at their first location. It's definitely the place to be because it seemed like everyone and their momma was here this past Saturday. Sooo, let me start by saying be prepared to WAIT. This is not the place for rushing in and out.
We started with a 40 minute wait. I don't visit Harlem often, so decided on a stroll of the neighborhood and grabbed a drink at Harlem Tavern across the street to cool down. Walked back and told they didn't have a reservation, after a few conversations we now had to wait again for about 15 mins or so because there were no seats. Honestly, who would want to leave with a DJ and festivities around them. Anyway, once we sat, a waiter arrived soon after with water and asked our order which we put in 10 mins in. Ordered a peach bellini with lobster and crab cake eggs benedict, plus a cornbread basket. We also ordered the shrimp and grits. The food took another close to what seemed like an hour arrive. Now, "when in Rome"...you know the rest..lol. The bellini was perfect and strong. It was peachy, refreshing and light, but strong. But lawd..the eggs benedict was a disaster. I made the huge mistake of ordering something I tend to love elsewhere at a soul food spot. I really should have stuck with the usuals like fried chicken, pancakes and grits. When being fancy goes wrong..lol The poached eggs were sooo soupy, drenched the entire plate, the crab cake wasn't cake at all, just seemed like crab meat mixed with tiny bits of lobster claw spooned onto the plate with a small biscuit thrown to the side. I think I was going to accept my fate, what drew the line was the wilted salad. Not much care taken into creating this dish, especially seeing it's $42. I tried to fork through, though the crab and lobster had great flavor, I couldn't stomach the plate. My waitress was extremely kind and gracious enough to return the plate and asked if I wanted something else. I settled for their usual fried chicken and pancakes. A manager came over and also apologized about the plate and mentioned the new order would take about 20 minutes. We waited. But then the waitress returned mentioning that my order is going to take a while since there were two parties of 15 at the rear of the restaurant. She had no timeframe. My friends had already finished eating and tired of the many long waits, I cancelled my order.
I'd have to say this was a first. Leaving a restaurant without eating..lol Though I did nibble on cornbread and it was rich, dense and flavorful.
My advice to management is to do better about time management and swifter service. With the added music which we love, people will honestly not want to leave. But what will help with the 90 min meal time is pushing the orders out. The food must be out faster for better turnaround time. By the time we left, there was at least 15 people waiting to be seated. Also, the host and hostess were uncoordinated which made the waiting period frustrating.
Overall, my wait staff was friendly and accommodating given the hectic situation. I would rate this spot 4 stars. The wait is excruciating and food turnaround is slow. I will return however, but more around the less busy hours. Still a great atmosphere for girls night, merriment and...
Read moreWent to BLVD yesterday, Oct 10th. It was my actual bday and i decided to have brunch with my mom, sister and daughter here. I knew of BLVD from their previous location and this spot is alot more spacious.
The overall vibe is so nice. The female DJ was killlllling it with the music. We spent the entire time singing and jamming to the music. I would legit hire her for a party.
When i walked in, i wasn't greeted by anyone. The hosts were not at their station but within two minutes someone showed up. A beautiful woman with a short pixie hair style. She was very nice and welcoming. The rest of my party was already inside so she walked me to the table.
They have a barcode you can scan for the menu. But also still provide one paper copy of the menu. It's a SMALL menu. I feel like they could expand it a little. A little more variety wouldn't be so bad.
Everything took a while to come out. The wait was not nice at all. We had a food runner come to our table 3x's with the incorrect food. We were annoyed about that. Esp since we wanted our food.
We received complimentary biscuits. They were fluffy and absolutely delicious. They are served warm with butter and jam on the side). I believe the manager (it was a lady who was telling other employees what to do. She was standing around supervising and also helping out). She ended up clearing out the biscuits basket and small plates for us. We mentioned how delicious the biscuits were and she said "yea and they have about 1,000 calories". Who wants to hear THAT? 😒.
We finally got our drinks. We ordered two sisteritas. One procecco wine. One sprite. The drinks took a while and even though the adults had their alcohol, my kid didn't have her soda for another 8 minutes. Either way the drinks were good. One sisterita was a little darker then the other but they tasted good. The wine was fine.
We had two orders of Shrimp and Grits. It was creamy cheesy grits with perfectly cooked shrimp. It comes with jalapeños but you can ask to NOT have them. We had the Rib meal. It comes with bbq sauce, cole Slaw and rice and beans together. And lastly the Steak meal. It comes with a sirlon, potatoe hash and eggs. GET THE GRITS. Either the Shrimp or Fish. Absolutely delicious. My kid loved her ribs. The BBQ sauce on them was spicy. The coleclaw it comes with is good but the rice and beans were hard and dry. I had the steak, eggs and hash. I didn't like it. I asked for the steak to be cooked Medium. It was still pink but tasted dry. They put the steak on top of the hash so there was no juice. I asked for my eggs over easy - not a good idea. The whites weren't cooked all the way. So IF you get the steak - i recommend getting your eggs scrambled. I saw a plate come out and it lookes delicious.
I would come back here for the biscuits and grits. I cannot get over how delicious the grits were. I never likes grits and this place has turned me around.
We didn't get any desert. They was only two options, banana pudding or lemon pound cake. They should add a red velvet. We would of bought 4 slices lol.
I will definitely give this place another try. The music and food are keeping this...
