LTDR: If you are a woman of color do not shop or go to this location.
I must say I’m really disappointed with this Anthropologie location. I am a long time patron of Anthropologie, and I like many of my millennial peers who often have limited time, I tend order clothes online at my leisure and return whatever doesn’t fit correctly or whatever item does not match the description of what I expected to received. &, as someone who works 6 days a week in Manhattan , I only have two Anthropologie locations accessible to me- this location at Rockefeller center or downtown. So, given how much closer this location is for me, I tend to go here.
Yesterday, I went to return to items from an online order, and decided to shop a little after. I was followed by several white employees. Finally one of them seemingly annoyed by the clothes in my hand? Offered angrily to take my items to the register as I continued to shop, when I got to the register the clothes were literally rumpled in a circular pile, clearly wrinkling items totaling to about $700. When I mentioned this to the cashier, she proceeded to tell me they do that sometimes when their busy and did not offer an apology. I spent close to $700 with them that day, and quite frankly, I was indecisive about two dresses but did not feel comfortable taking my time to select between the two in this store.
This is not the first time I am followed by white employees, guiding as “helping” but yet never offering such “help” to white female shoppers.
Do better.
I’ve seen almost no women of color working the floors either.
I will not be returning my items to this store, but I will be encouraging my friends and family to pay careful attention to the racial dynamics when they enter...
Read moreTerrible customer service! Traveled 25 min (mostly walking in hot hot hot temperature) to the Rockefeller Anthropology location to return online order or duvet and duvet cover. The store refused to help with return, saying that their policies had recently changed to accept only returns of items that they carry at the store. So I sadly carried all those items back to my daughter's apt. It was an exceptionally hot day, and I was really not happy about having to lug all those big bags around back and forth. Later I checked with the online customer service and was told that I should be able to return them at any store location. I had to return to Cali. My daughter took them to the 5th Street Anthropology store. No problem returning the item there. My daughter and I are regular customers at Anthropology. Never going to the Rockefeller location ever! The 5th street staff were...

Let alone an associate that’s not harried or rushed!
The call was picked up immediately; no phone trees to nowhere and Anthony couldn’t have been more attentive.
He pulled up the items online, then retrieved them from the store’s inventory and put them on hold.
I got to the store several hours later and they were waiting for me.
In addition, a couple of others that I hadn’t seen online that Anthony thought would be a nice counterpoint to the ones I had in mind.
Hanna greeted me warmly and carved out space for me to create a lovely grouping. She made a significant contribution to the in store purchase as well as helped place an order online.
Not only do I have a beautiful centerpiece, I have a lovely memory to go with it. Thank you from a...
