I picked Little Prince to celebrate my birthday, I have been there before. My reservation was for 8:15, I got seated at 8:15 the last friend arrived at 8:21. The service was slow, but I cared little since we were not rushing, although we had to get the attention of the waiters otherwise they won't come. We were fast to order and we knew what we wanted for drinks & dinner. Dinner was served at 9:20 ish, an hour after we arrived, again I didn't care much since we were celebrating and I wanted to be sympathetic to the waiters working. Things got off when they were not bringing the dessert menu and neither taking the order for another round of drinks. I turn and for the first time I make a signal to the waiter, when he came was to tell me that in 5 minutes they would need the table for the next group since they were waiting. Without even offering the dessert menu and after being denied the next round, I went to speak to the manager who was automatically in a defensive mode, but that's not me I don't follow those behaviors specially on a birthday celebration. She told me she felt sorry but this is how it works and she was sorry If I don't understand the pace of the restaurant but she would need the table "I don't want you to think this is personal you act like if I would like to say Fck you" she said (which I never thought becase there's no reason for that). After I told her we are ready to leave since my dinner night was incomplete and ruined because I was basically kicked out I ask her just to send the check asap. We were seating for minutes waiting for the check, no food, no drinks and all annoyed, the vibe was totally off and I was already stressed out, but they weren't coming. My friend had to go to them to pay the bill and she said, "You don't have to leave now have another round if you want" (because some tables were already emptying) but we absolutely had to go, after we were told to leave in that way. Meanwhile there was a group of 6 girls for a longer time than us, who was not asked to leave.
8:15 Seated. 9:20 main course served (one hour after arrival not my fault) 9:45 Asked to leave the table in 5 minutes.
I would have been happily gone at that time if they were well managed and the dinner was completed. But why would I be asked to leave without even finished because of the poor managing of their time to take orders and bring the courses. Again, we were ordering, kick somebody out when is a bad business, we weren't.
Long story short I left with no dessert, stressed, annoyed and didn't get to have my happy birthday candle lol. No hard feelings to the manager but girl... learn how to manage.
I never leave reviews but this time...
Read moreHas been a crazy month so this review has been quite delayed but well-deserved. As a seasoned server myself, I am truly disappointed with the service my partner and I received this New Years Eve, especially being frequent customers of Little Prince.
I made a reservation over one month prior to NYE, knowing quite well that the small restaurant could and would be booked up. Our reservation was confirmed, we showed up and were seated, and all was well. About 30 minutes into our night (and about a full bottle of rose down), we were asked by a pompous gentleman in a feather neck brace (who either was the owner or thought he was the owner?) if we would move our table to accommodate a 3-top. Usually, this would irk me to my core, but in a pleasant mood and with my honey, I had no problem. The feathered gentleman offered us a dessert as a consolation and my partner countered with a round of cocktails, to which the gentleman agreed.
After our 30 minute switch, we ordered the cocktails, and shortly after asked for the bill. Well, the cocktails were on our tab, so we called our server over. She then had the feathered idiot come over to us and he proceeded to argue for over five minutes about how the cocktails were not on the house. Might I add that minutes before that, we noticed this wannabe handing out free shots to a large group of people. My husband let it go and paid the tab.
The point is, this is not a cheap night out and as a customer, you expect to be treated as such. To be treated like we were trash trying to skip out on two $14 drinks - especially by a likely hostess with a subpar education - is just so out of character for this restaurant that I needed to write this. No one deserves to be treated this way, and Little Prince should truly re-evaluate the employees (or figurehead) it has representing...
Read moreA creative take on French cuisine is what you find at Little Prince, located on a relatively quiet street in SoHo. My friend and I enjoyed brunch there recently on a warm Saturday afternoon, and she suggested we sit on the small terrace to enjoy the beautiful weather and people watching.
We shared our starters, as they were each delicious in their own way. I loved the Summer Caprese with di Palo’s burrata, grilled peaches, arugula and balsamic as burrata was as creamy as it should be. The Tuna Tartare with celery root remoulade, tarragon purée was also great and the horseradish toast added a spiciness and crunch that paired well with the fish.
For my main dish, I chose the Steak & Eggs with Creekstone Farms hanger steak and scrambled eggs. The steak cooked medium rare was just wonderful in my mouth. My friend opted for the French Onion Soup Burger with gruyère, caramelized onions, dijon, hand-cut fries and garlic aioli, and she was very surprised by how much she liked it.
For dessert, we just had to try the Nutella Crème brûlée, which was an incredible take on the classic. Not to forget the chocolate chip cookies and almond milk which was so sweet and refreshing, a great way to end before we enjoyed the rest of the...
