We had booked 3 rooms for 3 nights, 2 Kings and one 1-bedroom king suite. ||On arrival at nearly 4pm the king rooms were still not available for check in despite check in being at 3pm. The exterior of the building is shabby and the lobby was small, dark and more like a hostel than a hotel.||The 1-bedroom king suite was ready for check in so we paid for that room (nearly $600 a night) and got the key. We had booked this room as we were 3 colleagues and the living room gave us a base to work from in between scheduled meetings.||The suite was on the 19th floor and only on elevator was working for the whole building so it took a few minutes to get the elevator to arrive.||When we got to the room we were shocked as it bore no resemblance to the description or photos for the room we booked. The room we were given was a small queen double room, with a single seater sofa. There was absolutely no sign of the living room, the 3 seater sofa, the mini kitchen or the spacious living area all detailed in the room description and in the room photos. Also the bed was a queen not a king. The room itself was noisy, old, grubby and had a stained bare floor and peeling privacy plastic on the windows of the shower. ||We assumed that we had been allocated an incorrect room so had to go back to lobby to ask to be moved to the right room category.||At reception we were at first gaslit by reception staff who tried to say we were 'mistaken' about the description of the room category we had booked, that this was indeed a 'one bed suite' and that we were in the right room. They said website pictures 'could not be trusted' as they could be of 'any room' not specific to the category type. ||We had to pull up the very clear room description from our booking confirmation and the specific attached room category pictures and show them these before the reception staff admitted that the room we had been allocated did not at all match the description of what was booked. I also pointed out that in absolutely no world was this a room worth $600 a night.||The reception team said they had no other available options so offered an immediate penalty free cancellation for the room. They refused however to let us cancel the other 2 rooms without a 1-night penalty per room even though all 3 rooms were part of the same booking and we were clearly travelling as a group. Very poor.||One of our party decided to just stay the night rather than lose the cost as a penalty. The other one and I both left, which cost us $250 for a penalty for her room which was a disgrace.||The one who stayed for that fist night was given a shabby room that stank of cigarette smoke despite it supposedly being a non smoking property. ||Would never ever stay here again and 100% do not...

We were looking to stay in Soho and wanted to save on accommodations so we can do some extra shopping and enjoy restaurants in the city. The pictures of Soho54 looked decent online and thought the rate was still pricey on a holiday weekend, but this was less expensive than other hotels in the area. I didn't mind outdated furniture, but was hoping for cleanliness, and liked the fact that they were supposed to have a bar in the hotel to hang out in before calling it a night. Unfortunately, I was disappointed the moment I arrived. The lobby was super tight, and the so-called bar was closed and non-functional. We had asked if we can be on the same floor (via email pre-departure) of the other couple travelling with us, and had no reply. Even when we asked at arrival, they said they couldn't accommodate us. Our room was very small and outdated. The furniture was ancient, the couch by our bed had what seemed to be a cigarette hole in it, the wallpaper was torn and yellowed in tone, the bathroom sink counter was detached from the wall (if you lean on it, it may drop), the tiles in our shower looked fairly new but the shower stalls had visible grime and rust, the soap dish was cracked, and the furniture looked like it was borrowed from 1950. No effort on the part of management to clean up the hotel and rooms, not even basic maintenance. The positive in this experience: the location was great (they had a nearby lot accommodate for parking, but 65$USD + tax daily, no deal for hotel guests). The staff was nice, one of the team members was really kind to let us take as many water bottles as we needed since it was super hot out. Then you have the guy who says he'll have housekeeping bring up towels asap, and it never happened. I get it, New York City is expensive, but what we paid was high for this experience and for the quality of this property. For those looking for a place to rest for the night and not really looking for comfort, this could be a good choice, like I said - location was great. However, this place did not meet my standards for a "home away from home" nor my standards of...

Overall, for the price I paid this was pretty poor all round and I’m struggling to find something positive to say. The location was good? I guess. I know it’s not the finest hotel in NYC, and with that my expectations were low. Somewhere to rest between my planned activities was all i wanted. Somehow, this hotel didn’t even meet my low expectations. The room smelled like a subway and when we mentioned that to then - in addition to the fact we had not received any housekeeping for the whole time we’d been there thus far and were out of soap, towels and toilet paper - they seemed apologetic, but ultimately didn’t do anything. We ended up getting housekeeping once for our 5 night stay. I seemed to get conflicting responses as to whether this was normal, or if we were supposed to “request” it, as each person I spoke with seemed to have a different response to that, but when I booked the hotel stated we received “daily” housekeeping and there was no implication a request was required, nor was I told to when I checked in. Additionally, and perhaps most frustratingly, one of the two elevators was down for the duration of the stay. This wouldn’t have been so bad if it wasn’t for the fact that the staff were using the elevators constantly to search for other staff by pressing every floor and sticking their heads out before continuing on. We were forced to either wait up to 20 minutes for an elevator, or climb the 11 flights of stairs up and down to our room to meet reservation times we’d set. When we mentioned this to the staff, they just shrugged and said “the lift is broken” and didn’t even offer an apology or even seem to care. I get it, the elevator is broken but then perhaps staff shouldn’t be using it to poke their heads around and look for other staff members at the expense of their guests. My recommendation to anyone looking to stay here is spend the extra money on a nicer hotel that will treat you like a human being and give you the basic amenities they list...

🇺🇸 Seven Days in New York!! Stayed Here for Five Days!! Absolutely Unbeatable Accommodation
Noam DahanNoam Dahan
I'll reluctantly begin with a glimmer of positivity: the staff showed some friendliness and a willingness to accommodate. However, our experience in the high-floor room (18) was a true disaster. The room was an absolute mess: 1) One of the window curtains was shredded, barely keeping out the intrusive light. 2) The air conditioning was indeed present, but it was hopelessly broken. 3) The safe was also nonfunctional, serving no purpose whatsoever. 4) Adding to the ordeal, the sheets were appallingly dirty. 5)king bed isn’t really a king(It wasn’t 193 × 202) When we alerted the reception to these glaring issues, they heartlessly advised us to tough it out in that miserable room until morning. Can you believe it? We endured a cold, rainy night without proper heating. It was a disgrace, and of course that I wake up cold the next day. Morning came, and we were rudely informed that no rooms would be available until 15:00. They snatched our old room keys, effectively tossing us out into the unforgiving Manhattan weather, which, incidentally, featured flash floods of a magnitude not seen in the city for 50 years. We suffered three miserable hours in the lobby, soaked to the bone and utterly dissatisfied. Around 15:10, they finally assigned us a different room, slightly better but by then, our experience was irrevocably tainted. As if that weren't enough, they mistakenly granted room access to another guest while we were already occupying it. Considering the exorbitant price of approximately $300 USD per night, this hotel's standards were a farce. My unreserved advice to anyone contemplating staying here? Don't. It's a colossal letdown.

SoHo 54 is a great example of you get what you pay for. Booked it primarily for location and the location is ideal. But echoing what a lot of others have said in reviews: the rooms are spacious enough but a bit tired and rundown, there's mold in the bathrooms, water pressure is poor, and thankfully there was no evidence of bed bugs during the stay. Unfortunately the main issue was Room 206 shares a wall with an obnoxiously loud boiler room, so all you hear and feel is the constant reverberations and chugging noise of the machinery. If you've got noise cancelling headphones or ear plugs, it's workable but not what you're paying for. I asked the front desk about changing rooms (admittedly on getting back to the hotel at 10pm) but was told there was nothing they could do due to being sold out. I probably should have made the request earlier but the main point is there is no way Room 206 should even be offered for $200+ per night if you have to use ear plugs to make it tolerable. I'd post a video if Google allowed it. I'm in New York multiple times a year for business and will chalk this experience up as a "good to know" but won't be staying here in future. For what it's worth, a friend staying in a different, non-boiler adjacent room had a solid stay, so as long as you aren't in Room 206, SoHo 54 is a perfectly serviceable 2-star stay if you need location and a solid place to sleep.
