Hotel was okay looking but unrealistic to stay at. There was no microwave, our heater did not work good, and there was only 1 roll of toilet paper in the bathroom. The front desk was very nice about it and, the two male hostesses we're very very great, and friendly as well.
Although when it came our last day there, waiting around in the lobby with our bags that were stored in the hotel closet until it was time for us to leave for our train. My boyfriend and I were harassed/ and very mistreated by an older lady named Bridget. We were sitting on the chairs by the elevator in the lobby and moved two next to eachother to sit, and she walked up to us, touched our belongings and asked us if it was our bag, to which we said yes, she tossed it over on the chair we were sitting in and said rudely and grumpily something like "don't move the furniture", then walked away. We were very put off by this, but we brushed it off. We then walked to the bathroom and I was outside waiting for my boyfriend to be done, and Bridget came up to me the second time. She asked if I was apart of the hotel and I said yes, we are checking out today. She responded aggressively to see my room card multiple times until my boyfriend came out and showed her our ticket to our bags waiting in the closet. She left, finally, then we went on the ground floor to sit and kept the chairs separated, like Bridget asked us. Bridget walks up to us another time for the third time, and tells us that we can not sit there, I asked her for a reason and she said because I am "leaning on" the furniture and moving it all around. To which I was actually having a discussion with my boyfriend. I don't believe I was leaning on anything, but to my knowledge that is what furniture is for, to be used...She said we have to move and are no longer allowed to sit there. Bridget told us to wait by the cold doors. This was very frustrating and unrealistic because we were no longer comfortable and had to wait by the cold for an hour, because of her incompetence. She caused me to have a severe panic attack and start crying. I could not understand why she was speaking so bitter, and coldly to us. Me and my boyfriend felt extremely targeted by this lady and are very very upset with this hotel for condoning an employee (Bridget) for treating us this way, and will not be coming here again because of Bridget, she was also using multiple profanities to the staff as she was going about her business walking past us around the ground level floor, she was a very unprofessional person, and ruined my experience. Alot of money was spent to stay here and we felt completely targeted...

This was our first stay at this upscale hotel in the Soho section of New York City. We chose this hotel for convenience since we were visiting with other family members for several days who were also staying here as well. Overall, it is a nice hotel, in a great location for shopping and dining in the area, and it is a short walk to the subway. But the cost for this hotel is very high even for New York city. We paid almost $1000 for two nights with taxes and fees included. Though our overall experience was positive, we were disappointed by several things. For the amount of money the Soho Grand Hotel is charging, one would expect some amenities. But there are none with the exception of when I checked in, I was given one bottle of water (even though there were two guests staying in our room.)
Areas for Growth: The amenities bar in each room is ridiculous. $7 for a candy bar $15 for a toothbrush! You should be offering some courtesy items like other hotels offer, not charging outrageous prices for every little item. The hotel elevators and hallways outside the elevators are way too dark. It was hard to see the buttons in the elevator. Maybe you think dark is chic, but for us, it was annoying and impractical. The toilet paper and tissues are thin and chintzy, not what one would expect at an upscale hotel.
The television interface was challenging. The chrome cast feature of hooking up our Netflix from my phone to the tv worked the first night but not the second. It was disappointing that the Soho Grand does not offer streaming services for free, given the expensive price of the hotel.
Even though we were on the 10th floor, the noise of police or ambulance sirens from the street in the night woke up my wife, so maybe add sound deadening curtains, or complimentary earplugs.
Suggestions: add more lighting in the lobby, in the elevators, and the hallway. And consider adding amenities for your guests like other hotels do- like how about complimentary coffee, offering 2 or 3 complimentary items from the amenities bar per guest, and how about a voucher for one free breakfast or one free desert at the Soho diner.
On the plus side: The room itself was nice though not spacious, and our king size bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom and shower were great. The towels were ample and comfortable. (It would be nice if there was more than one chair in the hotel room.) The food in the lobby restaurant and the Soho Diner was very good and the service was top notch. All the employees were courteous, polite,...
Read moreThe Soho Grand was wonderful. The employees are also all very professional and stylish. At check-in the lady was friendly and explained all of the room's amenities to us. Afterwards we received complimentary champagne! In the room they have a mini bar and little snack bin with a good selection of things. It's tempting not to use anything, especially since the basket includes random things you might need like a toothbrush, condoms, a lace panty, chips? We chose this hotel mainly for the bathtubs in the room since most places only have showers and the bath was great. Hot water and the tub is deep so we could soak better. Our room's heating and cooling worked wonderfully. We also had a nice view of the city at night- and having left the window open the sun woke us up and we had a nice view of the city during the morning as well. Room service was exceptional. The tray for breakfast was SO heavy but the guy who brought it in to us made it look like a piece of cake. Not to mention He had to balance our drinks on the tray for us. He also offered to take our old pizza box away for us so we'd have more room which was a nice gesture. The breakfast in itself was nice. It was also amazing that they accepted breakfast room service at 9:40 AM since we forgot to put our breakfast vouchers out on the door handle and breakfast ended at 10:00 AM. They also called about 50 minutes after delivery to make sure everything was good with our meal. Exceptional, they didn't just leave us hanging.
We only had a few problems. Our room keys didn't work properly the first time it was programmed. It was fixed right away when we went back to the reception desk. The second thing is we tried to have something of ours dry cleaned but the dry cleaner's driver was unable to pick up the dry cleaning the evening we sent it out. The next morning they offered to do express service without any extra charge but the dry cleaner also phoned that they were unable to do the service because they were afraid the material might bleed. This wasn't the hotel's fault but knowing that it couldn't be serviced it would have been nice to get the coat back sooner since we had to wait into the afternoon for the coat to come back from the dry cleaners without any changes to it.
Overall fantastic experience and would stay here again. I didn't mention the bar or the lounge since we personally did not use these areas but it looked very comfortable and the lighting of the hotel was dim and gave the hotel a...
