I got dragged here by some friends. We all agreed on pizza however not the pizza place! Great lil walk up pizza shop that you cannot enter. 2 standing tables outdoors to enjoy your food.
HOWEVER, the pizza was horrible. There was no love in the sauce at all. I wasn’t expecting a 5 star taste from a pizza shop serving pizza out of an arms length window. But when I ordered a grandma comer slice which I do have to say was crispy how I like it, there was absolutely no damn taste. Now yes, I could’ve added my own lil garlic seasoning, oregano, maybe some black pepper, but I believe it wouldn’t have helped.
This is the first pizza I’ve had in a while and was complete trash. If your up for bland food then this pizza shop is for you. I do think they don’t care about the taste because no one tells them, and they’re using cheap ingredients to make a bang for their buck across the street from the college on Dekalb Ave.
Never ever will I return here for food. I suggested to my friends that we head on over to “20 Grams” cafe and enjoy some delicious $2.75 burgers on which they come with a homemade sauce that you can die for mmmm. But not Luigi’s Pizzeria. Do not go unless you’re dying from hunger and can’t make it anywhere else.
I know I’m sounding bashful at this point, but come on, the food literally ‘Pizza’ had no taste. I even had a regular cheese slice with my grandma slice, and even that didn’t tickle my pallet not even slightly. So yea, I say pass on this spot.
You’re better off checking out the diner on the corner. Way better tasting food there. It might be a line but you won’t regret it, you will regret it if you end up eating from...
Read moreI was truly disgusted with the service at this pizzeria, my mother came to this pizzeria the other day to get a slice the pizza was good so she decided today to grab a half cheese/pepperoni pie from them. They didn't show her the pie. Instead, just put it in the box & she went home, trusting that it would be the same quality as the other day. Unfortunately once she got home the bottom of the pizza was very burnt & the crust was hard, We called the restaurant to let them know because obviously that is not alright & they were so rude over the phone saying it isn't that serious some people prefer it burnt the best she could do was offer a " free slice" next time after she just purchased a pie which was $21. I then spoke to them to let them know I'm over hearing this extremely rude conversation & a free slice can't do, we can't even enjoy the food. I offered to leave my home once more to bring it back... once we got there the lady continued to be rude say " it's not that bad" & " not come back again "! me & my elderly mom was baffled to tell a customer not to come again because you burnt the pizza. I let the lady know I will be writing a review she said "that's good for me" I never felt so disrespect & she just continued to keep laughing & grinning after. It’s about the principal & always respect the customer. One thing she is right about me or anyone I know will be back at...
Read moreStopped by Luigi's because the Love of My Life suggested a different pizza joint, but I suggested Luigi's for several reason's. 1 - the place that was suggested had fallen by way side and I did not want to spend tons of money for fallen from grace food. If you know what I mean?
2 - I have always enjoyed Luigi's but I do not get a chance to visit as much as I would like to, even though I do not need the extra calories, fat, guilt and so-on, because it is off the beaten track. Located in lovely Clinton Hill and we live in lovely Prospect Heights.
But I digress and do not want to. Particularly, when it comes to food. Great food at that! Luigi's pizza pies and sicilians slices are New York City old skool good. They make the grade because they want to make a good meal and it shows in the number of guests on the constant of picking up, mid-morning, noon and nite even. The two guys that were on duty Monday evening 1/7/19, were smiling, and engaging as ever. Making pies again, and again and again. The stuff is really good. It is reflective of the good stuff that is possible within the five cool and funky boroughs that make up New York City proper. Luigi's is good food for any and every reason. You simply must stop by and check out their fiddles to...
