I just want to start off by saying that my silk press looks great. However the process getting to this result was anything but pampering/soothing for me. From the washing bowl to the actual blowout process, it was clear that the folks handling my hair didn’t have the proper tools or techniques to do kinky 4c textured haired. The biggest indicator of this was that my hair was still dirty after being shampooed 3-4 times. Additionally a round brush was taken directly to my hair without first being detangled with a paddle brush/wide tooth comb. The hair at my nape and parts of my roots are still in their natural state. I understand that most of the clients that this salon sees have looser hair textures. But it is still important to have the knowledge and tools required to service clients with my hair texture. It should be a salon for ALL people, not just white folks. If I can get my hair squeaky clean and blown out straight without pain at home, I would expect TWO professional stylists to do an even better job.
There also was just zero educating on the quality/state of my hair or what products I should be using. I just felt as if the only goal was to get me out of the door quickly instead of nurturing my hair. Though Diamond and Maria gave me a decent overall result, this experience has honestly deterred me from getting silk presses ever again in the future. I would rather invest the money and time into giving myself silk presses that are done gently, patiently, and with some level of expertise at home. This was just not an experience/result worth $220. This salon needs to do a better job at being inclusive of all...
Read moreDo not know if I will return to this company. Would be a shame tho because I was coming here for years. But recently I don't like how they tried to treat me as if I do not know any better. I had my usual service which is a wash and go. I haven't been since last November however my last 2 vistis I had a discount. Today at checkout I was told the price would be $55 before tax. I was shocked to hear this as I just visited last year and the price for a wash and go was $40 before tax. I asked when did the price change and they told me it was only cheap because I had a discount my last two visits. I felt upset I was being treated like if I didn't know my information or know for a fact that was not true. Yes I did receive discounts my last two wash and go however I have been coming to salon 718 for years and never had any discounts prior to the last two for wash and go and it was always $40 before tax. I even had the receipts saved showing this. I even reached out to the manager and she ignored me after I sent her evidence it really was $40. UPDATE: they continue to treat me as if I don't know anything. The response of what they put simply isn't true. My stylist that I had yesterday was not a level 3. She was a level 1. Also like I said i have been coming here for more than a year going to different stylist at each different levels varying from level 1- level 3 and the price for a wash and go was always the same no matter the level. I don't know why this salon won't just admit they raised it up simply cause...
Read moreUzma cut my hair too short, cut my bangs too short, and gave me a style I did not ask for. My requested haircut was extremely simple, literally just straight across with no layers. She tried to tell me she did what I asked (she 100% didn't).
I usually cut my bangs myself, and after Uzma, I was reminded why I do. When I cut my bangs they don't have that too-blunt-I-just-got-a-haircut look. Uzma cut them too short (which is the worst with bangs!!!) and too bluntly. It was obvious that she knew she had messed up the length of the bangs and then spun it like, "now you get to see your eyebrows!" girl no, not what I said. Disrespectful to try and trick me.
On top of all that, Uzma literally rolled her eyes when I told her what shampoo I use after she asked. Who would want to work with someone that rude and condescending??
I never write reviews, but Uzma was just really unwelcoming. Didn't listen, wasn't nice, and certainly not worth $100!!! Even her shampooing was not pleasant! The rest of the salon, and the other stylists, are all great. Adriana- incredible! Just not Uzma, sorry girl. It was ultimately her attitude, not haircut, that upset me the most. Will never be...
