The bakery itself is very nice, clean, and the products tasty. Unfortunately, it is their customer service that turns me off from ever going there again.
It was my first time ever ordering from the shop. I placed my order the day ahead of my niece's birthday over the phone and at their insistence also payed ahead of time. When I visited the bakery to pick up the cake, I noticed they got the order wrong. Instead of a chocolate mousse cake, they had prepared for me a vanilla fudge cake. For those of you out there who love cake, you know there is a huge difference between chocolate mousse and vanilla fudge. I knew I had to get the right cake, because my niece simply wouldn't like the vanilla--she's picky. That was part of the reason I decided to order from this bakeshop, because they had so many nice choices.
When I brought up this error with the woman working there, she explained that she couldn't take the vanilla fudge cake back, nor could she even allow us to pay the difference to get the cake that was ordered. The only option she could give us was to keep the cake we had already payed for and buy the chocolate mousse cake at full price. After that, she said that we could call back the next day to see if they would be willing to give us a refund for the cake we payed for but didn't order (vanilla fudge).
All this hassle is pretty ridiculous just for a decent cake--so we won't be going there again. If their management is reading this, then you should please have a policy in place to cover your employees and customers when a situation like this happens again. This can't be the first time someone messed up an order. Noone wants to hear that they have to buy 2 cakes just to get 1 they want--this isn't cake roulette. It's a bakery, but it felt like a middle school cafeteria. Lulu's, put a procedure in place to help your employees and customers negotiate this territory. Otherwise the ultimatum you currently have in place may turn your lovely business disgusting in more eyes than...
Read moreI paid $250 deposit for my daughterâs custom made H.S graduation cake that costs $500. I was supposed to pick up at 5 pm the day of grad party, was overwhelmed and busy and I forgot completely, nobody from the bakery called to remind me and to tell me cake is ready or even when they were closing the store at 7pm knowing that there was a custom made cake not picked up didnât bother to make a reminder courtesy call to pick it up and avoid ruining an event. This is an abc of customer service. Not only that, my husband went there and knocked at the door about 7.20 and there were people inside cleaning and didnât even bother to come at the door. We knew the next day when the rude call who answered the phone and heard the story said that there were people cleaning. She was so rude and kept repeating same sentences; âit is your responsibility to rememberâ âWe were so busy, thatâs why we didnât call youâ âin order to pick it up, you have to pay the remaining balance, or it will be thrown in the garbage!!!!!!!!â Excuse me ? She called me again to announce for me that she talked to the boss and he confirmed what she said!!!! That he spent time doing it and either I pay $250 or throw in the garbage !!!! Seriously???? Even though the event was over, I offered to pay half of remaining balance and they share responsibility about the other half since it is their mistake too! Today they called and said again the boss insisting on his opinion; payment or throwing in garbage !!!!!! Is this for real? You ruined my event, you took my money and you do not want to compromise??!!! What type of human are you? Business is not just money, it is goodness, kindness and service and you donât have any of that and as such money that you earn wonât last or most probably you will use on medical bills, fines and a lot...

Lulu's Bakery on Union Turnpike in Fresh Meadows is probably my favorite bakery in nyc. The shop is filled with all sorts of different baked goods for everyone and anyone's tastebuds. The shop is neat, clean, tidy and small. Glass display cases on the left of the shop as you enter, and a cake display case on the right hand side of the shop. With the display cases on both sides of the bakery, there isn't much space left to tango, but we are not at Lulu's to tango.
Those who frequent bakeries in nyc will immediately know by the smell inside Lulu's Bakery that they are the 1 of the real Mccoys, and not a just a bakery that is justing trying.
My 2 favorite baked goods that I love Lulu's for is the Lobster tails which is basically a big cream puff. The shell is really crunchy and flakes when you eat it, the middle filled with real whipped cream and not sweet at all. The whipped cream in the middle was light and airy, and instead of tasting the rush of sugar (from too much sugar), I tasted the natural sweetnesd of the cream.
My second favorite baked good of Lulu's is their Rainbow Cookies. Fresh and flavorful, frim and moist at the same time and delicious.
Lulu's is very much the neighborhood hang out joint. They have 2 small tables in the rear of the bakery with s few chairs for folks who like to sit down and enjoy Afternoon Tea. Lulu's have specialty coffees, but they have not mastered the taste and quality of specialty coffees. The 2 iced Cappuccinos that we ordered did not even have the flavor of an iced Cappuccino, never mind the quality of an iced Cappuccino. The 2 iced Cappuccinos also looked different in color.
However, the baked goods of Lulu's is the prime reason for going to Lulu's Bakery.
Happy...
