Generously giving some feedback. Served $50 cold pasta. When I brought it to the waiters attention his response was “oh I just took it out.” Not the defensive response I wanted to entertain.
(With Kaspia Caviar coming to this neighborhood, you’d expect more pride to be taken into service)
Also, they are way too casual in this location with very loud personal conversation on this day. It felt like I was in a Starbucks vs. A caviar bar.
While I really enjoy the food here I do think there needs to be bit more attention placed on the customer service. Let me preface by saying this was not my first time at this restaurant.
At least I should say it’s not consistent service. Because I’ve had good service in the past, hence why I was back.
I’m disappointed with the experience I had today. The person who Greeted me was not attentive. I pretty much sat myself as he continued to fold napkins and wait until he was done with the entire process before coming to my table.
That was very odd.
Following, I ordered the pasta along with a sparkling rosé. Both were tasty but the pasta was definitely cold. Also there was a lot of conversation happening over my food as it was being prepared. That made me extremely uncomfortable. I guess the process isn’t to have a chef prepare the food, the same waiter who took my order was making the food but he was talking over it asking for instructions.
I didn’t make the waiter aware although I continued to eat the dish I was letting him know that it was not prepared to a temperature that was enjoyable. I didn’t have time to just waste on having a new pasta dish made. Nor was it even offered as an option to me. He didn’t even suggest some thing else to ensure I had a complete enjoyable experience.
Totally fine that I decided to continue eating the food given the lack of response however when the check came they presumptuously put an automatic gratuity into it.
Before I even finished my drink he asked if I wanted the check. Mind you, there was literally no other customers in the restaurant. I didn’t come here to just hang out, I came here to enjoy my lunch.
I made them aware so I could apply my own calculated gratuity. Which I did. And given the service I think was still considerably well.
There is no added attention or concerned for fixing the issue with the cold pasta. I think everyone handled themselves poorly today.
The service & cold pasta did not meet the caliber I expect from this restaurant.
I’m still not OK with the...
Read moreThis was our first time dining at Markys, and we were genuinely excited, because we have been dying to come to new York to try your famous caviar. We had chosen your establishment to celebrate my fiancé's birthday, looking forward to a special evening and a quality dining experience. We decided to splurge and enjoy what we hoped would be a memorable night... however, we were left very disappointed.
Several issues significantly impacted our experience:
*My $30 glass of wine was mispoured, the gentleman next to me ordered a glass and it was much larger than mine. The leek soup and risotto we ordered were served cold, which was surprising and disappointing, with a very small portion of caviar on the soup, I've seen lots of videos of the soup and the portions just did not match. Our waitress brought out the wrong dish... she brought out the truffle grilled cheese instead of the truffle rissoto and we had to wait a considerable amount of time for the correct item to arrive. *We ordered the Danielle service and asked for the upgrade of our caviar and the waitress brought the Kaluga instead and said they already opened the caviar so she couldn't change it she was sorry but insisted it was good. Although it wasn't what we ordered. Most concerning, there was active construction happening near our table, with work being done on the ceiling. Dust was visibly falling in the area, which was not only distracting but also unhygienic and uncomfortable.
We wanted to order more caviar and items because we were waiting on a fourth person and decided to meet them elsewhere and close the tab because the entire experience kept getting worst and worst.
What was meant to be a celebratory evening turned into a frustrating and disappointing one. We had high expectations for our first visit, especially given the occasion, we love caviar and a nice spread and sadly the experience did not reflect the standard we anticipated from your restaurant.
I'm sharing this feedback in hopes that it will be taken seriously and help improve the experience for future guests. I have written 3 emails to Markys and have not heard back. We would appreciate hearing back from you regarding...
Read moreI have been following the fabulous Danielle on TikTok/Ig and her videos have made me want to dive into the lifestyle of Caviar. On my birthday trip to New York this year I planned a food tour and this spot was on my list. I was able to make reservations easy on their website and upon walking in the place was even more beautifully decorated in person. Videos and photos online do no justice you have to come here.
Our server Elizabeth was so kind, patient and very informative with any questions we had.
To start we were brought water and ordered a yummy Riesling! We started with the Danielle’s Service which came with all of her viral snacks & Kaluga Caviar. After that we ordered the Fried Chicken and Caviar which came with Crème Fraiche Ranch which was so flavorful & these cute wet naps for after! The chicken was so crunchy yet moist inside. Next we ordered the soup I’ve been waiting over a year to finally try and it was the Potato and Leek soup which was the best soup I’ve ever had and def beat my expectations from countless of videos I’ve seen online.
For dessert I was brought out their coffee and chocolate which looked exactly like caviar and had the best crunch and flavor, my mom isn’t a coffee drinker and she loved it as well. Cannot wait to be back Everytime I’m in NYC! Such a...
