Just look at the picture - words won't do it justice... After ordering the pork juicy buns and each inhaling one, it was obvious something was terribly wrong; surprise, it WAS! They sent completely raw, uncooked pork dumplings... A simple call should have cleared it up, but NO... the manager insisted WE were confused, since there was no way they would send completely raw pork dumplings without ever cooking it; they even said they needed to send another delivery person to pick it up and bring back because they didn't believe us... We were obviously more than happy to let them see the disgusting mess that was sent, but it was kind of ridiculous that they needed physical proof of their own huge mistake - and also didn't remedy the situation at all (later called seamless, who happily refunded it, but it should not have been on us to do so for their mistake). The biggest take away from this experience is that any place that somehow doesn't even manage to cook the food before they send it to you obviously isn't a place you should feel comfortable is meeting basic minimal hygiene standards in food prep... if this happened to us and was only noticed because of how painfully obvious it was, I can't imagine the stuff they get away with doing and serving to people without their knowledge. Go elsewhere, there's enough great (or at least reasonably clean) Asian food spots in NYC; don't waste your money on a place that has the audacity to serve entirely uncooked pork meat and assumes your lying about what was their blatant,...
Read moreWe went on Happy Hour, which had many great deals on appetizers including Edamame, Purple Potato Fries, Shumai, Summer Roll, Satay and Crab Rangoon. Our favorites were the Fries which were lightly fried and the ube cooked tasted fresh. The Summer Roll fell apart easily, but was very refreshing combination including mango. The peanut sauce was well done too. The Chicken Satay was plump and good amount. Everything was tasty. We also tried the Mango Mojito cocktail as non-alcoholic, and it was refreshing. The lychee mojito was also very good. Additionally we had the pork soup dumplings, chicken noodle soup and duck noodle soup. The soups were comforting, and broth was okay. The duck soup was tastier even though the broth remainder the same, but this is because the duck pieces and bones just made a more flavorful soup in our opinion. The soup dumplings were solid — not the worst, not the best. Still very juicy, good size and fair amount for the price. Overall an excellent value for dinner and also the ambience with the lanterns plus the attentive service can’t be beat. The blueberry lemon cheesecake was also tasty. We don’t live near the upper east side, but we did, I think we would...
Read moreI recently dined at New Chinatown Restaurant and Bar on the Upper East Side, and I can’t stop raving about it! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was inviting, with elegant decor and a cozy atmosphere perfect for an evening out.
The dumplings were simply the best I’ve ever had. Each bite was a burst of flavor, with perfectly thin wrappers and generous, delicious fillings. We tried a variety of dumplings, including the classic pork, that was heavenly.
But what truly elevated our experience was the cocktail menu. Every cocktail was a perfect balance of flavors, beautifully presented, and incredibly refreshing. My personal favorite was the signature Mango Mojito, which paired wonderfully with the dumplings.
The service was top-notch, with attentive staff who made us feel welcome and ensured we had everything we needed. The attention to detail in both the food and service made this a standout experience.
For anyone looking for an unforgettable Chinese dining experience on the Upper East Side, especially if you’re a fan of dumplings and cocktails, New Chinatown Restaurant and Bar is a must-visit. I can’t...
