I went there for lunch just because the Thai resto I went to initially was closed & ordered sweet & sour chicken. It was my 1st time there & I didn't know one of the dishes so I asked the lady who was taking my order. However, she answered me rudely. I told her that she shouldn't be mad because the reason why I asked her because I was clueless about that particular menu; otherwise I wouldn't ask. I was supposed to just back out after that but I was already hungry so I just proceeded & just ended up ordering sweet & sour chicken (at least this dish I knew). To my surprised, the chicken didnt look like sweet & sour chic at all. It didnt come with any veggies (bell pepper, pineapple, carrots etc.); but instead, it came with a pink sauce that looked so artificially colored & I didn't even dare to taste it cuz it looked inedible too! I told the lady about it that it didn't looked like sweet & sour but it's just like chicken nuggets but she just answered me that that's how they do it! The chicken tasted alright & crunchy but I don't think I will ever come back to eat there again ever. Also didnt like the fact that they are serving hot food in a styrofoam. Imagine the chemicals that might mix with your food when it's piping hot. I saw they serve the takeaway in a carton box (which is the thing I like) but why can't they do the same for dine in? The other thing I like is the comfortable seats they have.
If you want decent Chinese food, better go to the other one named Woks which is in the same area, just a few walks away. The service there is way better as well as the food & they served it in a plate if you...
Read moreHaving already tried several other Chinese take-out restaurants in the area, we decided to give this place a try. The A health food rating on the window made me feel safe about getting food here. Let's start with the pluses. The service was friendly and I got what I ordered, which is always a good thing. There is not much to say about the decor of this restaurant; although there are a few tables here, this is a place where you are better off taking the food to go. When it comes to the actual food, the main reason one goes to a restaurant, it was a big disappointment overall. Their General Tso's chicken was actually very good and unlike many other local Chinese take-out restaurants, it actually was spicy. The dumplings had good flavor but the dumpling skin was on the thicker, doughy side. Now, the chow fun was really lacking in flavor and quite bland. The kicker is that the chow fun had an extra ingredient, a thick black hair. That one infraction is enough for me to never...
Read moreI regularly cook at home, but on this particular day I wanted normal Chinese takeout. My order was a Combination BBQ Spare Ribs, which comes with pork fried rice as well as an egg roll. I also ordered Dumplings; fried.
As to my rating, I would have given it 3 stars if if was okay, around my expectations for average takeout. 1 star would have been if I deemed it inedible. The 2 stars is because I ate it, but I did not enjoy the meal. Service was quick, but the food was prepared in all the wrong ways.
Ribs: no prior softening or prepping of the meat so they were so, so dry. Like, you'd think it was leftovers from the day before. Pork Fried Rice: Also dry. I enjoyed it more when I heated it up in a pan and added water myself the next day. Dumplings: I'm used to the rice flour wrapping of dumplings being thick but still enjoyable, but somehow these were thick and bland. I usually skip dipping in any sauces, but I felt compelled...
