Nomad Cafe is absolutely a place you must try. This friendly and delicious neighborhood cafe is a gem for anyone making their morning commute to or from Ridgewood. Quick bites or a sit down meal, this is the place. I had heard tales of its greatness so I came with an appetite and left incredibly satisfied.
On a hot sunny day the raspberry hibiscus iced tea was crisp and refreshing and just what the doctor ordered. I went with the Cheddar Smashbrowns, apparently a house favorite. It was the perfect combination of cheesy (cheddar), crunchy (hashbrown), sweet (bacon jam), and spicy (sriracha). And for under ten bucks my wallet was also happy.
After hanging around for a couple hours I decided to try their roast beef sandwich they call The First Class. Another great selection. Made fresh and obviously with attention to detail as every bite was just as good as the last all the way until the end. The salad that comes alongside was even garnished with flower. Not something you'd expect but certainly a nice touch. These folks obviously care and appreciate everyone who stops in.
If you live nearby or are just passing though the neighborhood, you should consider making a quick (or long) stop at Nomad Cafe. Your taste buds and wallet will not be disappointed. Also, the coffee is reasonably priced, something of a rarity these days for cafes in Queens...
Read moreLocally owned hard working couple from the nabe, opening up a full service coffee and brunch shop. Always great music and vibes. The smashed Browns are quite the Unique creation from the mind of Cameron(owner) and his Partner in crime (Jackie). They are most def a must try on the menu and unlike anything I've had in a place like this. Just this is 5 stars in its own, AND THERES MORE! Plenty of room and wifi never turns you away. Even if you wanted to take a day trip on the wkend for brunch, this place is conveniently located 1 block from the train. It's a win win and this is a must try in a nabe that's a bit of a food desert. You can feel the love and care as soon as you walk in. And I must say, starting your day with SM.Br is next level godly. This is hands down one of my favorite local shops for many reasons. I also love that they carry Yerba Mate which is a bit difficult to find. Fresh pastries daily as well. You could spend 10/15$ here and it's worth every...
Read moreNo Mad is located in my old neighborhood of Ridgewood. The 20 minute ride is well worth it. The food is very good, we especially love the breakfast choices, the service is welcoming and very efficient! I do have couple of suggestions that may or may not enhance the experience. There is an open refrigerator that generate cold air at the last table. Consider some kind of enclosure e.g., plastic strips? Many delicatessens use them, they also save energy. No Mad is not a large cafe, there are five small tables that accommodate two patrons. Perhaps a notice should be posted -- when busy please be considerate of other customers and don't over stay your computer time.
Thank you and I hope you will continue to serve the...
