Visited this place as a part of the yelp elite event! Was really excited to try this place out but there was hardly anything which could go the right way.
The restaurant is a small but cozy place and it's ambiance is really good and that's the only positive I could take during my experience here. I asked the person at the counter about the event and he unfortunately didn't have any clue about the reason they are having it. I decided to order Oh Boy Burger and wanted to try out a Puerto rican holiday drink called Coquito.
Firstly, they messed up my order and bought griddie and fries(which I never ordered) instead of burger. The griddie though was good, the patty was really fresh and well seasoned and the pancakes were made to perfection. The quantity of fries was really good and the oil had been drained well while it lacked proper crispiness which would be expected from the top quality fries. The drink was interesting, it had coconut, rum, cinnamon and nutmeg. I'm wondering if they had mixed rum with coconut milk as when asked about the same to the server, he had no idea about it.
Secondly, I think they double charged me. The first time, I bought the drink and the second time they charged me for fries under the pretext that the drinks were upon them over the goof up they made while delivering the order (the cancelled transaction was never reflected in my card statement).
Overall, I believe it's a decent place to grab coffee but not sure about the food here. The service I experienced wasn't up to the basic standards and the staff weren't knowledgeable which is sad.
Edit:
This response is to the Oh Boy team:
The server messed up the order, when told it's the burger I have ordered, the server realized his mistake and said the kitchen is now closed.
I can only review the dish presented to me, not sure what confusion you have?
It's not about the FREE Food but it's about your service as a restaurant I care about
I did tell them that you can provide the fries for free which the server didn't agree with as he was adamant that coquito is in the house due to the goof up. So doesn't it mean the charge for the coquito drink should be refunded?
Unsure about the food here as the order delivered was the wrong one, does that look good for a local business?
I suggest you to kindly own up to the mistakes and make sure it's not...
Read moreI was an out-of-town visitor, so take that for what it is worth. They were very busy, which I took as a good sign. I was told there would be a wait for a table or we could order to go, so I went with a to go order. I ordered a waffle, as did my husband, because waffles take no time to make. I was wrong. I was asked to wait outside (in December) for my food since it would be maybe 25 minutes before the food was ready. Also wrong. We waited 45 minutes for our waffles to be brought to us outside, and I was thinking for the last 20 of those minutes that if I hadn't spent $30 on two waffles and a coffee, I would have left to go to the bakery a few blocks away. They put both waffles in a single box, which is difficult to eat out of for 2 people who might like different levels of syrup and stuff, and no plastic cutlery was provided to actually be able to eat them, and when I asked, I was offered a spork. The waffles were rubbery and we had to eat them with our hands and dip them in the syrup. Just not a great experience on any level. But there were tons of people there, so maybe it was just my midwestern-ness that made my expectations so...
Read moreI was excited to try the Griddy, their take on a McDonald’s McGriddle.
-The sandwich was $18. After eating it, I feel it’s insanely overpriced for what is basically a simple breakfast platter of pancakes, eggs, and bacon. It fell apart and lost its form after 3 bites so I ate it with a fork. -The pancakes were so dense and just crumbled. I would’ve liked them on their own but they’re not the right composition for a sandwich. -I wish I had asked for the oh boy sauce on the side as it made the pancakes really soggy, causing them to fall apart faster. It’s too much sauce on the top and bottom of the sandwich. Maple syrup is a better option for this to resemble a real McGriddle. -I asked for sausage and got bacon instead but I won’t deduct for this since I didn’t send it back and ate it anyway. The bacon was thick and didn’t have too much fat on it which was nice.
All in all, it was just fine and I wouldn’t order it again.
The dining space is super tiny with only about 3-4 tables so keep that in mind if you’re counting...
