On the first night I moved to New York, I got a haircut at the Williamsburg Persons of Interest barbershop, and since then, I haven't gone anywhere else for a hair cut. In addition to a fabulous atmosphere in a totally unique building (with beer! during the Normal Times), the barbers there are a diverse mix of true professional barbers. I recommend all of my friends who are men or who have short hair to check it out if they are looking for a true, modern barber experience. My barber Stu is FANTASTIC, and always takes his time giving me the hair cut that I am looking for. I'm hopelessly bad about describing what I want, and he is always able to interpret what I'm telling him into a stylish, modern cut. For me, as a non-binary person, I'm always looking for something that is short, albeit not too masculine, and he ALWAYS is able to navigate that specific, complex request. You can tell he has been training and working on his skills for a long time. More importantly, I just went back to Persons of Interest during Phase 2 of reopening in New York and was super impressed by the shop and Stu's handling of the virus. There was seating set up outside, so you don't have to wait inside with other people, and the shop emailed detailed information about what the experience would be like. Inside, they made sure that plenty of hand sanitizer was available, and everyone wore a mask. I was super impressed at Stu's ability to cut my hair and being able to maneuver around by mask straps (tip: ones that go around the neck are better). And, they were super efficient in terms of timing -- making sure there was plenty of space between appointments to clean [this is also means they have less appointments right now, so tip well!] Even the smallest details to keep the shop clean were figured out, like having all of the barber's Venmos available so you didn't have to give them a cash tip. All in all, a lot of things don't feel safe right now, but I'm so happy to know that getting a hair cut does at Persons of Interest. Can't imagine having my hair cut anywhere else in New York! And really -- Stu is really,...

Yep, another review another customer service horror-show.
Had an appointment for 5pm with Jason, came in early, all 3 barbers were working but no waiting line. Checked in at the desk, then sat down and patiently waited - 4 other customers came into the Barbers at varying times after me, and got seated/cu by all 3 barbers. At this point every person is being served ahead of my appointment, even though they were either very late for their appointments, or didnt have one at all... I'm guessing friends of the store but I cannot be certain. 5.25pm rolls around before I approach the desk I say 'hey man...' in an attempt to find out what was happening...however after waiting an uncomfortable few seconds at the desk, the clerk didn't look up from his phone, but to no avail. Didn't even look up as I put my hat & coat on and walked out the store.
Store looks the part, but the establishment is all fur coat and no knickers, clearly. Actually...
Read moreI found persons of interest because of the hype. That was 4 years ago. It exceeded said hype. I have not gotten my hair cut anywhere else since. And I always get it cut by Po!
Po, is literally the first barber I’ve ever met who I am completely loyal to. I have wild curly, frizzy hair, that has mad cowlicks and no one, until Po has been able to give me a consistent cut that always looks amazing from the moment I get out of the chair until the next time I walk in usually a couple of months later. I’m an actor so my appearance happens to be very important. He even gave me my cut for my wedding.
Po has also trimmed my beard of various lengths both with tapering and without, and it too always looks amazing.
The coffee is great too, but you have to go early or it’s not available. There are is always free soft drinks and beer for anyone getting a cut as well!
I highly recommend checking it out and ask for Po! (He only works Mondays...
