Twenty Sided — Local services in New York

This is a fantastic FLGS. I've gone a few times to browse and a few times to play games there. I will be honest and say that I don't care for the gaming events there (the atmosphere is a bit eh and sometimes there's a smell) as there are plenty of better gaming nights in the city. However, one this I truly appreciate there is their dedication to the customers and to gaming as a whole. When we went there, we thought they had a playable copy of a specific game but they didn't. Instead of just choosing a new game, they actually opened up their copy so that it could be played. I'm not in the position financially where I can buy lots of games at retail value so if I can save a significant amount of money by purchasing a game online, I will. But if the price between other big vendors and here is only a few dollars different, I will make the trip out to support the small store. I highly recommend...

I absolutely adore Twenty Sided Store. I've been going here for four years and cannot recommend them enough. If you're a board game or tabletop player you owe it to yourself to check this place out.

The staff is beyond friendly and knowledgable; I've purchased many games as gifts for friends and family members based on their recommendations (board game enthusiasts and casuals alike) and every time the gift has been a hit. Similarly, anything they've recommended to me has been something my gaming group has played for dozens or hundreds of hours. When I was deeply into Magic: The Gathering, they were also open and honest about the playability/enjoyment factor of the various sets they sold, which was always appreciated.

I can't speak to their events as I have yet to participate, but the shop always seems lively and inviting when an event is running, and there's snacks and drinks available...

Upon hearing the name, my little nerd heart did backflips of joy. I immediately rushed over, only to find a store that has essentially no connection to the 20 sided die they named themselves after.

The store itself was cram-jammed to the rafters full of very, very sweaty guys playing Magic.: The Gathering.

We found board games and card games galore, and enough Magic cards to choke a mule.

There were, however, no RPG books that I saw anywhere. Flagrant false advertising.

It's great if you like Magic: The Gathering and the overpowering stench of a High School wrestling mat.

However, for what they had available, good selection. The board games were not anything you couldn't find at The Compleat Strategist, but being as they're the only store anything like this on the L train, it's worth a visit.
