It is with a heavy heart that I right this review....Patsy's has always been a staple in our family growing up and we have tried and tried to tough it out and remain loyal through the years but todays experience has really rubbed me wrong. We arrived for a 3pm reservation and there was only 1 other table as it was on the earlier side and before dinner rush. We sat down for 10 min before we had to request menus for our family of 5. The Antipasto looked as if it was left over from another day...(meats were dried out.) My wife ordered market price lobster diavlo ($80) and it was subpar at best. Daughter ordered shrimp scampi that had a STRONG vinegary taste. My son chicken parm that was decent. Stuffed mushrooms were just "ok". my chicken marsala had a very weird chemically taste and even after all that..... Maybe we would have left just disappointed but what happened as I was paying the check is why I'm writing this review....Our waiter made the check illegible and literally used a pocket calculator to add it up.....$610!!!! we definitely DID NOT ORDER $610 WORTH OF ANYTHING! Then when I questioned the bill he added it up and it came out $200 cheaper! The service was terrible. The waiter acted as if he would have rather been anywhere else dropping dishes with force and no proper restaurant training was visible. When my wife asked our waiter for to go containers to pack everything up and give it to the homeless outside she was made to pack it all herself on mothers day... I'd had enough made an excuse that I wasnt feeling well paid the check and just left to not make a scene on mother's day. Sorry to say it but Patsy's is surviving on a reputation thats now long gone and good social media marketing In my opinion. Oh before I forget......We drove 3hrs as we no longer live in NY just to have subpar food on mothers day then an attempt to have my pockets picked for hundreds of dollars by our waiter.....Still tipped 20% because there were other servers helping out. ...
Read moreI'm sorry to submit a more or less negative review, but I think that it's valid. Everyone there was very nice and the service was good, but the food left a lot to be desired. I saw other customers receive dishes that looked wonderful; however, the manicotti that I ordered was unlike any manicotti I've ever had, in not a good way. I didn't say anything, because at the time I didn't know how to describe what was wrong with it. However, the next day, I realized that it was simply not fully cooked. My reference for uncooked pasta is whether I boil boxed pasta enough (in other words, undercooked is boney) - I don't make homemade pasta. At Patsy's, I'm sure that they don't use boxed pasta and that their pasta is homemade. As such, undercooked isn't going to be boney. That was what was wrong with my manicotti - it simply was not fully cooked (the cheese inside was also lukewarm, further suggesting that it didn't cook long enough). My other complaint is about the Caesar salad. I asked the man who was working the room (kitchen manager, perhaps) about the salads. The Caesar was $16, which suggested to me an entree-sized dish which I did not want. He immediately told me that they would prepare whatever I wanted, no problem, and that he would tell my waiter. So, when I ordered, I ordered a half-salad, which my waiter clarified would be an individual salad. That was exactly what I received, and I will say that it was extremely good - I really enjoyed it! But imagine my surprise when my bill arrived and I was still charged $16! I asked the waiter about this and his response was that all the Caesar salads were $16, regardless of mine being half the size of the menu item. Really? I didn't say anything because these days you don't want to make a scene, but that is enough reason not to go back to Patsy's. As far as the salad pricing, that's kind of a screw job on...
Read moreDINERS BEWARE . . . I am writing on behalf of my mother who has been dining at Patsy's for over 50 years, spending most birthdays and special events there. Let me start by saying this review would not have been written a few years ago, but since Sal's parents are no longer running the restaurant things have gone downhill fast. The quality of food is not the issue, although the dessert cart is not as special as it used to be. When you went to Patsy's it was about the great food and superb service. Management, now run by Sal's son, is now horrible, atrocious and rude. My mom was thrown out. Yes, that's what I said. My mom was first harassed about not checking her coat (he claimed it was a new rule that they do not allow patrons to take their coats to the table) and then when she requested to sit at the table that she usually does, which was empty and could not have been reserved (as apparently that is another new rule), he refused. My mom tried to refresh his recollection of her being a long-time patron, but he simply ignored her and then threatened to throw her out if she (dared) say another word. When my mom asked where Sal was, he prompted told my mother and her guests to leave immediately. In shock, my mom did, but her guests had traveled from upstate NY to dine there so, unbeknownst to her, they gave him $50 to calm down. When they returned, they witnessed the son throw other diners out, who also asked for an empty table in the middle of restaurant, rather than the tables against the wall because she had a back problem. My mom was shocked, saddened and disappointed by the actions of management. Needless to say, she will never go back. It should also be noted, my mom has never written or asked me to write a review of a restaurant before, even though she and my late father dined out often. This story needed...
