I booked Phebe's to meet up with an old friend/colleague who moved to the US over a year and a half ago and since I'm visiting I thought I'd look up a place that had great American comfort food and the reviews, particularly for the burger, were excellent. I was sorely disappointed. While the young lady who sat us down was friendly and took our order, the food took quite a long time to come and I immediately asked for some mayonnaise from the person who finally brought our food but it never came. I eventually decided to flag down someone, which took some effort because no one seemed to be paying any attention to people at the tables (one couple walked to the entrance with their bill in hand later that evening). When we finally got the attention of one of the male staff (I don't want to call him a server because he didn't seem happy to be flagged down by us and we did discuss afterward if maybe we offended him because he wasn't meant to be serving but later it seemed he was - very confusing) and eventually got our mayo which I was already walking towards the kitchen for.
When I finally got a bite of my burger - which I was starving for because I was on jetlag, it was 7pm and I hadn't eaten anything since the night before - it was not as advertised in the reviews. I immediately told my friend it was really not good, and she asked if I wanted to change it but I couldn't bear the thought of waiting even longer and I was so hungry I ate it anyway and dipped it into the blue cheese dressing for the wings just to add flavor. I asked for it to be cooked medium but it appeared to be well done and was not juicy at all and could have used another slice of cheese. I wish I had just gone to Shake Shack instead and had a superior burger and faster service. I said as much to my friend. Anyway I wasn't going to let my bad food spoil our reunion. We ordered the buffalo wings which were standard. My sweet potato fries were the best thing I had dipped in mayo and my friend said her pasta was good so at least one dish was good. I know I should have said something to them but just did not have the energy or time to wait for someone to come to our table/flag them over, so maybe I am also at fault for not speaking up. I am annoyed that I wasted one of my meal times at this place when I have limited time in the US, particularly NYC, so I strongly recommend against this for both the food and service. And it was a Monday evening 7pm so it...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting a local establishment that has been making waves in the culinary scene – a spacious bar that boasts a fantastic environment, delectable cuisine, and a friendly service staff. While the overall experience was certainly enjoyable, a slight drawback emerged with the limited options on their lunch menu.
One of the standout features of this establishment is its spacious bar area, providing ample room for patrons to relax and unwind. The expansive layout contributes to a comfortable and inviting atmosphere, allowing for a leisurely and enjoyable dining experience. The decor is tastefully done, creating a visually appealing setting that complements the overall ambiance.
The culinary offerings at this venue are commendable, with a diverse menu that caters to various palates. The food, in general, is of high quality, and the flavors are well-executed. From appetizers to main courses, the dishes showcase a commitment to using fresh ingredients and culinary expertise.
The friendly service staff adds another layer of warmth to the overall dining experience. Attentive and welcoming, the team ensures that patrons feel well taken care of throughout their visit. Whether it's recommendations from the menu or accommodating special requests, the service consistently enhances the overall enjoyment of the meal.
However, it's worth noting that the lunch menu at this establishment is somewhat limited. While the available options are undoubtedly delicious, those seeking a more extensive selection may find themselves wishing for a bit more variety. Despite this limitation, the dishes offered during lunch are well-prepared and maintain the same level of quality found throughout the rest of the menu.
In conclusion, the spacious bar, inviting ambiance, delicious food, and friendly service make this establishment a noteworthy choice for a dining experience. The limited lunch menu may be a minor drawback for those with diverse culinary preferences, but the overall positive attributes of the venue make it a worthwhile destination for those seeking a pleasurable and...
Read moreI have visited this establishment twice, only to grab a few drinks with friends. I find it quite pathetic that they pour lower quality liquors into their higher quality bottles. There is only one specific flavored vodka that I drink regularly and know the taste and smell of it, mostly because I owned and managed multiple restaurants and bars and pay attention to the fine details of every drink and have the knowledge of them as well. Anyways, I approached the bartenders with my concern and was treated with some of the worst attitudes so I asked to speak to the manager and none of them would help me, I then went to the security at the door and asked them to get management for me. When I finally spoke to the manager, who was far from a gentleman, he told me to go ahead and report them because they're such a big business that it would have no effect on them. All I asked was for me to physically see them open a new bottle so that way they could prove me wrong but they couldn't! I do not recommend visiting this establishment, as you will be well overcharged for wrongfully advertised cheap liquor. Mind you, this is also VERY ILLEGAL!!! One last thing I would also like to add, the fact that underage kids easily get into this place, I overheard a group of 5 girls talking about their fake ids so I struck up conversation with them and asked to see them myself.....They looked absolutely nothing like what was on the id, the one girl I specifically remembered had brown eyes and red hair and the license she had was a blonde with green eyes. They clearly don't have a care in the world for what or who they serve and that should be a...
