This is a restaurant where I have been very often but have seen it slowly deteriorate. The next to last time I was there, the tomato sauce in the pasta was completely watery. Because I had been there previous times, I chose to overlook it and figured they had had a bad day. I went back with my friends visiting me from Spain (a couple and their son). The food was good, but when we got the check, the price seemed too steep. I looked at the check. They had included the tip (something never done before to me at this restaurant) and a fee “if we paid with credit card”. Yet, without knowing how we were going to pay, it was already added to the check. The waitress became very nasty when I simply inquired about both fees. She walked away. The manager came and said that it was “customary” to add a “tourist tip”. I told him that my friends were tourists, but I was not. I told him how disappointed I was in them, a place that I frequent rather often. He offered no apology. I asked him to remove the “tourist tip” and the credit card fee, since we would not be paying with credit card. I also told him that they had just lost a customer. We were never nasty with him, but I was stern and showed my disapproval and disappointment. He was forced the remove both fees, but never apologized or admitted to trying to rip us off, assuming I was a tourist. We got no apology. And when I told him that it was a shame that I would never return, he said that he did not care. What a horrible way to treat regular customers. I am very disappointed in them and hope the owner reads...

We were in town for a work thing for the hubs and took the Sky Tram to Roosevelt Island. It was time for food while we were there, so we decided to stop in here. It's easy to get to after you get off the tram - basically straight south from the tram exit (no need to go east or west towards the water). They offer pizza by the slice, which is great because we didn't want to take any back to the room. I had the Buffalo Chicken and he had one of the same and a pepperoni. The Buffalo Chicken slice was SOOOO good. I could have gone back the next day for another slice! The hubs enjoyed his pepperoni slice, too. OH, and we ordered the garlic knots. Also quite tasty! There is seating indoors. LOADS of beverage options, including the adult beverage kind and some fun stuff that you don't see very often. The staff is friendly and helpful. It's clean and casual, decent music. Ingredients are fresh. Would I go again? Absolutely! Thank you for...

After months of having a messy restaurant, clutter in the cashier station, and not wiping tables management has stepped forward an improved the place. I can finally sit inside and enjoy a meal. Of course there are some bad menu items that are not worth your money. Philly cheese steak no peppers or onions but it’s $13. Shrimp parmigiana hero but only tomato paste no cheese an little to no shrimp also $13. Cheeseburger and fries?? $15 might as well go to wholesome you get a nice meal and a soda for that price. Or fast food. The owner should come up with ways to generate revenue and not skimp on toppings. Same with the pizzas they’re great don’t get me wrong but saving money isn’t going to keep a business running. Start marketing to RI residents, start a Facebook page, anything an you will succeed. Other than that I’m very happy with the improvements of...

This place is a little ways from the tramway by walk and very conveniently placed. My friends and I took a walk here and it did not disappoint on the Italian aesthetic and the feel of being in an Italian pizzeria in Europe, not New York (when you’re on Roosevelt Island, it feels like a different world anyway. I enjoyed the pizza. The flavor was very authentic, the presentation was divine and it was very hot to my liking. The crust of the pizza is also very divine - not dry like some of the bigger pizza corps who shall not be named here. Piccolo was an excellent find. My friends also enjoyed the ambience and the food. I recommend here for a quick day trip out in the city solo or with friends.

First time on Roosevelt Island. While Queens and Manhattan are close, a good local slice is a must, and Piccolo delivers. I’m a vegan (pictured), but the wife had a regular slice and was impressed, as was I. My slice was fresh out of the oven (vegan individual slices not available). But it had the chew/crunch/fold of a reheated slice, which was impressive. Vegan cheese solid, they use the Trader Joe’s cashew which I use at home. Good melt and flavor (a regular started bringing it in himself and then they started stocking it). If I lived here, they would know me by name. No frills but clean seating and clean bathroom. Would 100% recommend.

I will be going to Roosevelt Island every possible opportunity I can to eat this again and again. WHAT THE... My research of places to eat in the area ahead of time led me to be very eager to try Piccolo Trattoria. It looked super cute and YUM. Huge portions, I ate every single bite and still have no regrets about that. I ordered the Gnocci with bolognese sauce, side Caesar and (duh) wine. Everything was everything and if this place was in my neighborhood, I would be there every week. Lizzie was my waitress and she was the sweetest. I love how nice she was about my enthusiasm for it all. ;) (About a 5-minute walk from the Tram.)
