I was invited to friends and family so was everyone on the street. the owner was turning away neighbors that were black who lived on the street and have jobs. I found this out after my encounter which was I went inside to buy drinks for 2 neighbors and myself. drinks are 18$ and beers 9$ I paid and did not drink for free to support. I ordered a second round also paid for it and then was accused by owner of drinking for free. he was corrected by his bartender and still continued to freak out on me pushing me towards the door. the next day he went over to the guys that hang outside on my street and told them I was acting crazy and was drunk. Which was refuted by the guys who hang out. everyone knows me to be kind caring and generous. I am a very good neighborhood. It was very disturbing for the owner to think telling people I barely know and just see every day to report to them a lie about what happened. I wrote a review which was accurate. He then sent one of the people who was with me to try to talk me down and remove my post on google by buying that person free drinks. I live across street from POMO and he sees me every day. This seems to be a common behavior by new store owners in this neighborhood who seem to prejudge black people in their stores before some of us having a chance to spend our hard-earned dollars. I fully support boycotting all of these places. We must be good neighbors to each other and trying to weaponize police is disgusting and dangerous. bleed them dry to they have to go and we can a business more deserving in our...
Read moreThis hidden gem inside a cul de sac has some of the best tacos: juicy and flavorful, and packed full. The shrimp tacos are an especially good deal.
Each of the cocktails are balanced and use high quality ingredients and thoughtful garnishes. I appreciate they use agave (which tastes better and is better for the body) instead of simple syrup. But if you're not drinking they can make a few cocktails without alcohol and have an excellent alcohol-free paloma (not just grapefruit juice) with complex and interesting flavors.
The owner is friendly and attentive, and the vibe is pretty chill. I've been here once a week since I found this place, working my way through the cocktail list but ordering my favorite tacos again and again. It's great for an easy date night, but also has lots of space for a large group or party.
Definitely come here for the food and drinks alone, but I'm looking forward to seeing their events programming pick up, with salsa dance nights, comedy, and...
Read moreThis place is a true hidden gem in Flatbush. Mezcal (that’s actually high quality—not the cheap stuff!), solid tacos, and really friendly staff. We travel from 20 minutes away by foot for their happy hour and some tacos in the middle of the week. In an age when many bars either have bad happy hours or none at all, I really appreciate an $8 margarita that actually tastes like a GOOD elevated cocktail (not like sickly sweet which is the norm in the neighborhood) Im not a beer drinker, but the excellent Mexican microbrew on tap is $5 during happy hour, which is kind of unbeatable.
I used to love the old Erv’s here (RIP) so I respect the folks here holding it down despite the tragic history of the place. They’re just out here trying to make a nice spot to enjoy authentic...
