Shah’s Halal Food — Restaurant in New York

The restaurant is bright, clean and airy, with a standardized decor. Customer service is excellent. Price point is great. And they are open until 1:00 am! I went just after midnight. I asked if their burgers were made fresh. (I should have been more specific.) I can only hope the clerk was honest and it was never frozen, but it was obviously not a patty made by hand. I got a mechanically preformed, perfectly round and flat patty. Assuming it came in not frozen. I only asked for it medium-rare because I believed I was getting one like in the picture online in their official menu. The one in the photo looks delicious, right? I would never ask for a preformed patty medium-rare. My fries were crispy and fluffy inside, and falafel was decent, but not as good as other nearby places. So disappointed in that burger. I may come back to try a lamb platter. It is right by my hotel.

Attn: Corporate - You should make burgers (and how about lamb burgers) that look like your menu pics. You need to send each location packages of ground meat to make patties there, instead of boxes of preformed patties. You could save money operationally. Or keep the burgers you have and introduce a Premium Burger. $12 to $15 would be a good price point for the area. Just...

We stayed in NY just across from here on 42nd street. Prior to our travel we had identified Lasani Grill as a Halal food place near to our hotel. Then we found this Shah Halal Foods directly next door on the evening we arrived in NY. What stood out is that it looks so clean. The menu is quite clear. However one gotcha for us non-americans is that the tax isn't included in the price. The tax gets added on top and I think it's about 9%. We ended up getting food from here a few times since the Halal options in this area are quite limited. We had the platters, fries, hot wings. The fries are so amazing and taste of potato, unlike the cardboard fries we get in so many places in the UK. I asked if the chicken/meat is approved by the HMS monitoring body. The staff weren't able to answer my question. They just asked me to scan the QR code to get all the information. I have learnt there is a HMS body (like HMC in UK) in USA. Absolutely amazing experience from start to finish! The food is always fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked — you can really tell they take pride in what they serve. Every dish is hot and beautifully presented, and the portions were generous. The staff is friendly, attentive, and made sure I have everything I needed without being overbearing.
