Siempre — Restaurant in New York

I came here for a taco Tuesday happy hour with some friends. The place wasn't busy at all due to it being both a weeknight and a crazy Canadian smoke smog drifting all over NYC. But we came and sat at the bar and ordered drinks and food anyway. There were only a couple other patrons, so the place really felt like it was all our own. The location is also only a couple blocks away from Royal Palms, so if you're looking to grab a bite to eat either before, during, or after a couple rounds of shuffleboard with friends or a date, I highly recommend paying a visit to Siempre.

The decor is very inviting and tastefully nods to authentic Mexican design and aesthetic. The dining area isn't very expansive, but that wasn't an issue for us due to the above-mentioned circumstances.

I tried the esquite and the birria and both were very delicious. The birria was incredibly juicy as expected, and the consomme was actually incredibly easy to drink on its own. Not overly salty. I also got a cocktail, which was the same price as all of the other cocktails so feel free to ask the bartender for their honest recommendation since there's no real way to upsell you.

A small intimate space with good ambiance, lively music and excellent cocktails hand crafted by a mixologist, that are unique in flavor as well as visually appealing. I had a drink called the dulce noche that had flavors of coffee, coconut, cream sherry and rum. Appetizers were tasty as well as filling and were shareable. The main dishes we chose were beautifully presented on the plate and my table had duck carnitas with tortillas with a green salsa, shrimp tacos with avocado,pickled cabbage along with a salsa and braised short rib with roasted heirloom corn with a mezcal au jus. If that weren't enough there was also an offering of desserts that were also very delicious. The person responsible for all of these excellent dishes were lovingly and creatively made by the Executive Chef Carlos Rodriguez Lima. We came here for my mom’s birthday. I’m writing this before we even leave because it’s JUST that well deserved. It was completely empty save one group of people, so the reservation was not needed. I imagine that in the next couple weeks this place will get so busy you’ll be lucky to get in within a year!!!! The music that they play is great. Perfect immaculate vibes. The food was unbelievable. We started with the mild guacamole and my family actually went feral. I had the tacos de Birria and let me tell you. I had a love affair. It was the best meal I’ve ever had in my life.
