Best tuna sandwich I ever had - warm and crispy bread with pickled veggies, tuna fillets, I think a slice of cheese, and a light sauce. Everything fresh and incredibly savory. I should have bought a second one!

They were also incredibly nice and caring about my food restrictions and did their best to accommodate me. Also chatted with the owner about their sustainable wares and their amazing display of tinned fish - biggest one in the city, I believe. I got some tinned sardines in butter and very excited to try them. Great selection of tinned fish, jamon iberico, etc. to purchase to go. From what I saw, they were also priced very reasonably and below what I normally see for these products in NYC at places like Despaña. My favorite part is the tapas bar area in the back. The tapas were perfection and Marco provides such a warm welcome and generous service. They also have at least 2 drinks on tap, as well as a great selection of bottled wines, beers, vermouth. My wife and I have had the pleasure of enjoying Mercado on several occasions. If you're hankering for an authentic Spanish tapas experience, then this is the place to be! And, if you've never been to Spain, you'll be adding it to your destination list after spending time at Mercado.
