My girlfriend and I decided to try Sinigual for the first time. All we could say we were disappointed in both food and services. We only had a nice time thanks to each others company.
We had one appetizer, two steaks and "three" side dishes (one side never came). Food was mediocre to say the least with a lukewarm warm steak and just cold rice and bean. Service was practically non-existent after the appetizer. Our server suddenly disappeared halfway into our meal and never apologized or explained why. Then we realized that it was the transition between lunch and dinner, so she was long gone.
They just left us there with no one to take charge and continue at the very least service because there was nothing hospitable about this place. I had to get up several times to get someone to help, I had to ask multiple times to multiple people for things we needed (lemons, utensils, salt, napkins, water and even drinks). Overall, very disappointed and expected much more given the fact that the restaurant was nearly empty.
Last but not least, this last message goes to the manager, Hugo, whom I gave two opportunities to take action. First, when I waved at him to asked him for water and second when I came straight to him while he was sitting and chatting and wouldn't even get up to say hello and introduce himself. After I communicated what was going on he finally stood up and went to the bar to get someone to help and disappeared. Hugo, why couldn't you take a drink order, why couldn't you help a guest in need? Are you too good to do something yourself? What a shame!!
When the bill came I was charged for the side I never received. When I expressed my concern, the waiter came back explaining that two of the sides were combined into one price and still got charged.
This establishment is the perfect example of poor leadership and lack of commitment demonstrating that no one cares. I love to go out and I'm not afraid to spend for quality reward but this is NYC and they are far better restaurants who will deliver a better experience. Never...
Read moreWe had a reservation for 2 at 6pm on the Sunday night. My girlfriend from Germany never tried Mexican cuisine and I wanted to show her the nice place. I also mentioned that on the reservation with the tag "celebration special occasion". When we arrived nobody offered the coat check instead (after I asked myself) they just showed us the racks (next to the host stand) to leave our things there. As it was a special occasion I didn't expect that we will be seated next to the bathrooms with plenty tables available around. Server arrived within the first minute and offered water right away. However, she did also ask what we will be drinking but we did not even open the menus yet. She said she will be back in a few minutes but came back in 20 min when we were able to order the whole course (drinks, appetizers, main course). Drinks were good (8/10) and arrived quickly. Shoutout to bartenders! They know their job. We ordered sampler platter as a starter which was a great option to try a little bit of everything. My girlfriend wanted to try tacos vampires and I went with the 12oz "dry aged" steak. Server also did ask if I want side or soup with my steak and I said salad would be great. Our appetizers haven't arrived but the gentlemen wearing a suit brought a salad to our table. I told them that we didn't order any salad and they were confused. Later another gentleman in a suit came and said that it is for the steak. Isn't salad suppose to come with the steak? You know as a side? Then right after that the appetizers platter arrived. Ribs were 10/10. The "steak" was as thin as Mac Donald's patty. Even though the server asked how do I want it to be cooked - medium rare. It is absolutely impossible to make it that way when it's that thin. (2/10). It's chewy and definitely not dry aged. Special top. Bathrooms and its heating system. It feels like you’re in Sahara Desert. You're unable to breathe there it was super hot. I work in the same industry and those things are needed to...
Read moreI’ve been to Sinigual a couple of times before—honestly, the food is just okay, nothing to rave about. The drinks, though, are pretty solid. Since it’s Cinco de Mayo, the place was packed. I felt bad for the bartender; she was clearly overwhelmed, and it took about 15 minutes just to get her attention.
My friend had made a reservation in advance, so I was at the bar having a drink while waiting for them to arrive. Once we were seated, we asked our server about the Cinco de Mayo all-day happy hour promotion we saw on their website. He told us it didn’t apply to dine-in guests. I pulled up the site and showed him where it clearly says: “Available in the bar, patio, & for dine-in only.” He went to get the manager.
The manager came over and told us the happy hour was “only at the bar.” I pointed out—again—that their website explicitly mentions bar, patio, and dine-in. I also mentioned that we planned to order food. He said he’d honor the happy hour pricing for one round only. Seriously? We were ready to walk out, but then he offered us a table in the bar area and said we could order happy hour items from there. He repeated, “It’s for dine-in ONLY,” and once again, I reminded him—we were, in fact, dining in.
The whole interaction left a bad taste in my mouth. On the bright side, the server in the bar area was friendly, but in the end, our bill still came out to $278, including the food we ordered.
If you’re going to promote something, make sure your staff is actually prepared to honor it. Misleading advertising like that is frustrating and...
