Dr. Alani performed the Tenex procedure to remove scar tissue along my achilles on September 2022. She had used an x-ray of my tendon to diagnose the problem. Almost 3 months post-surgery, I was still experiencing pain and was unable to walk normally. During one of my follow ups with Dr Alani in December 2022, she said I had a bone spur. Given that she had not ordered an MRI prior to my procedure, I asked her whether she thought she had missed the bone spur because I had not had an MRI, she said no. During that visit, Dr Alani uttered the most appalling words I had ever heard from any doctor, she said she is going to be blunt with me, she did not know that I had a bone spur because had she done the surgery for a bone spur vs the Tenex, Christmas would have come early for her, she would have gotten a bigger payout for the surgery for the bone spur versus the surgery she'd performed on me. I told her outside of the financial gain she would have enjoyed for doing the surgery for the bone spur, my concern is the health of my foot. What is her plan of action for getting my foot back to normal? She gave me a few packets of PENNSAID and said apply them 3 times a day until my follow up with her in 2 weeks when would administer a cortisone shot for the bone spur, she requested that my physical therapist only perform manual therapy, and gave me 2 heel lifts to place in my shoes. Given Dr Alani's disgustingly "blunt" statement about the payout she would have gotten for the surgery for the bone spur, the fact that she tried to encourage me to have the tenex procedure done 2 weeks before an international trip to which I objected because I didn't think I would be healed although she said I would be fine, the fact that she wanted me to pose with a ziplock bag of my scar tissue post-procedure and be recorded saying "Tenex!" to which I objected and said can I at least wait to see if the procedure was successful before I speak to the effectiveness of the procedure, and the fact that 2 plus months post-Tenex procedure I was still experiencing pain and not able to walk normally, I did not trust her, cancelled my follow up, and sought a second opinion from another podiatrist who ordered an MRI for my right ankle. The results of the MRI revealed that the bone spur that Dr Alani was so confident that I had was in fact a ganglion cyst, I also have multiple tears along my achilles tendon, and I have retrocalcaneal bursitis. So, Dr Alani would have given me a cortisone shot for a problem I did not have and possibly increase the rupture I currently have because cortisone shots can increase risk of tendon ruptures. I am grateful that Dr Alani's blunt and disgusting words pushed me to seek another opinion. To anyone reading this, my advice is to never allow any doctor to say you will be able to walk normally 2 weeks after any procedure even if it is minimally invasive. If you are going to agree to have a procedure performed on you for any issue, seek a second or third opinion. If you have not healed from a procedure within the timeframe that most individuals heal, seek a second and third opinion. It is your health and no one will care for your health as...
Read moreDr. Alani has been a blessing to me during a long period of being injured.
I had both a broken sesamoid and a torn plantar plate as well as a neuroma in my foot. As a super athletic person and a flight attendant these injuries were incredibly difficult for me to manage on several levels but doctor Alani really cares not just about feet but about the person attached to them and worked with me to create treatment plans that felt manageable for me.
It's been about a year since my initial injury and its been very complex to heal both the sesamoid bone/sesamoiditis and plantar plate tear as they are both slow and difficult to heal. Two months ago, Doctor Alani suggested a stem cell injection as a final measure to avoid a surgery that would've been really tough for me and I decided to try it. My MRI just came back a few days and there is no tear detected and the pain I had become so used to has essentially disappeared! Such incredible results! For my neuroma which is, hopefully my last source of pain, cryotherapy was the solution.
I can’t recommend Dr. Alani and all of the doctors and team members at To Healthy Feet highly enough. They are just really pleasant and so helpful.
While I haven't enjoyed my foot troubles, I really enjoy my visits to the office. Honestly, I will be sad when I do not have my...
Read moreA week before I was to leave for my first year of college I suddenly began experiencing a pain in my foot. I waited a few days until the pain became unbearable at which point I searched far and wide for a foot doctor that would take me ASAP. This is where Dr. Alani came in. I scheduled a same day appointment with her and hobbled my way to Grand Central. With the help of her wonderful and incredibly entertaining staff, I managed to fill out the necessary paperwork and soon X-Rays informed Dr. Alani that I had what appeared to be a fractured bone in my foot. I was sent away with a soft cast, a boot, crutches, and a prescription to get an MRI. The following two days included an MRI, CT scan, and many personal phone calls with Dr. Alani. When I arrived the next day for a walk-in appointment half an hour before closing time, Dr. Alani sat with me for a long time and discussed all the new information (which included an injured tendon). On my final appointment the day before I traveled to college, I left with a thorough understanding of my condition, a game plan for the following months, Dr. Alani's personal number for questions and concerns while I was at college, and a knowledge that I had made some lifelong friends at this doctors office. Please do yourself a favor and book an...
