Sofrito Al Punto — Restaurant in New York

I’ve been coming to this establishment for years since I moved into the area. Food is always on point except for recently…. It was the rude customer service that was the last straw . Yesterday was my last day stepping foot into the place.

My order was messed with three days in a row. The lady started to charge different prices for plates out of nowhere. They charge different prices according to how they feel that day apparently. Obviously if I ask for extra items like the green sauce then I’d pay for it, no need to be stingy and catch an attitude when I ask for more that’s why I ask for it before I get rung up. Lady in front was very nasty to me and sarcastic when I was giving her my order. Not once was I ever rude to any worker there. The first day, I asked for yellow rice, instead I got white rice on both plates when I clearly told her yellow rice twice. I got a feeling she switched up the rice to mess with me. But I ignored it. The second day I got overcharged for 2 plates and when I asked why so much she gave me the excuse of ‘taxes’. How are 2 plates equal to more than 41 dollars? The third day I came back to deal with the situation hoping to speak to a manager or another worker. So I came in and ordered the exact same thing I’ve been ordering since the beginning of the week to see what I get charged. This time with a different lady there who served me and I was charged the correct amount and then I asked why I was charged so much for the same order yesterday. That’s when the same lady who served me from the previous days came out of her “break” who was sitting on the table by the cashier who knew what was bout to unfold and got up and flat out lied and said that I ordered 3 plates which was a lie. She accused me of trying to rip them off. She kept repeating the lie that I ordered 3 plates of food, which is why she charged me so much, the thing is I’ve never ever ordered the 2 plates she accused me of, she was trying to cover up her lie. So I asked for a discount for my recent order and so I thought we came to an agreement. They only charged me for one plate this time and I thought that was the end of it. I come home and take out the food out of my bag and what do you know, they switched my order for the food that they accused me of ordering the previous day. So now I’m very annoyed by this ridiculous behavior and I come back to deal with the situation. I go back to the store and they accused me of switching up the order from last night. Both ladies who work there are accusing me of lies. Now I’m really bothered by all of this and I ask for all my money back including the money that was robbed from me yesterday. Both ladies were giving me a hard time so I asked to speak to the manager. After speaking to the manager about the situation he just told me that I would get my money back. Worst customer service ever by the lady in the front that picks up the phone. I’ve tried ordering multiple times by phone for pick up thinking I could save time by calling ahead of time but every time I call to order the lady puts me on hold for a long time , sometimes 5-10 minutes. By then I’d have already arrived at the restaurant before I even get to order my food by phone. I understand it may be busy, but it’s always the same regardless of what time I call even during non-regular lunch/dinner time. Also, I just needed to place the order for a simple order for 1 person that only takes less than a minute to order, so I do not understand why I have to be put on hold for so long just to place my simple order. I wanted to give it the benefit of doubt but I’m realizing it happens all the time, making me feel it’s likely on purpose.

You can tell by all the similar bad reviews on the lady answering phone calls, maybe the manager/owner should really review this...

If you want PROOF check the restaurant raising history! Now here is my original review. Don't come here. The food has been garbage for years and its overpriced for cheap crap...he uses low quality food and charges high prices and the restaurant is dirty...this guy thinks he can get away with it cause he's the only Domincan restaurant in the area. He even changed the name just to have higher reviews. It used to be called Quetzal and had numerous C and D ratings grades by the city.. Still the same owner. Don't go here.

Edit 2023: my father stopped by here just to get yellow rice and literally they're so cheap now you can tell they used the Goya Box of rice seasoning to flavor the rice. It taste so bad.. how can you...
