Affordable Classic Jamaican food. However their Jerk Chicken is a huge miss, compared to most of the other restaurants in Flatbush, due to the fact that it doesn’t have any smokiness in the skin or the meat. Funny though, it’s one of the best places to get Jerk Pork from. The other lunch/dinner menu choices are tasty, however BE ADVISED you will pay more for ANY type of fish which is usually salmon, escovitch, snapper, and to my amazement the codfish which is mixed in with vegetables as well. Oxtails is also priced higher than the other meats as well.
This is not a place for vegans and you won’t find an Ital menu. They do offer a very limited choice of salad and fruits; however you’re not going to be able to create you own gourmet salad like in these newfangled delis across the city.
It would definitely be a better restaurant if they did have a complete salad bar; and for that a juice bar as well. But the main thing to know before you start piling food into a container is that this is a CASH ONLY RESTAURANT!!! I feel that they should have a sign in plain sight so people can see it as soon as they get to the door. There is an ATM, but let’s be honest, who wants to use street ATMs to get food when most places allow you to pay with a debit card?
Lastly they do offer catering services, and although the trays are pricey, guests at your event would not be disappointed.
p.s. The hand sanitizer is on the left wall...
Read moreBuffet style presentation with $4.99/lb pricing. Other dishes may cost you more, like ox tails for example. You have different container options like the Styrofoam container or aluminum container with plastic lid. This is my first visit to this place and it may be my last. Not sure yet. Seating is limited to one side of the establishment and there are 4 small tables with chairs (I think). My reason for the rating is the food. First of all this is a buffet style restaurant. There were no signs /labels on any of the food telling you what it is. This is a Jamaican restaurant in somewhat of a west Indian neighborhood but there will still be people that come here who aren't familiar with Jamaican offerings. I am somewhat familiar and I still didn't know what most of the dishes were. Also, the food itself... I had the ox tails, Mac and cheese, white rice, and some mixed veggies. The rice was very hard and stale almost half cooked and The Mac and cheese was bland. The ox tails were delicious though. Now I did go to this restaurant at around 8:30pm so the food may have tasted different had I gone earlier, but still. I've gone to Chinese food buffets and their rice is...
Read moreMy Ghanaian friend introduce me to this restaurant last week and I have bought food there about 6 times. Yesterday for lunch I brought two people with me to support them because the food isn’t bad and being a born Jamaican I want to support a Jamaican business. Long story short, I got my food and the lady at the counter asked if I took ox tail, I told her just one piece. She said once I take ox tail it’s $9.99 per pound. I only took one piece.. look on the pic. I paid $20 for this food and a soda. So mi basically pay $17 for a plate of rice. She went on to say that she always tell people to take a full plate of ox tail only to get their moneys worth. So I told her that she didn’t tell me that so she sent me to look on the sign. That’s when I say their thing. I told her I did not know. And to top it off she was laughing! I won’t support this business again because they are unfair! This is why a lot of Jamaican businesses fail. Well they will be losing more customers. Because I will tell people about my experience. mi ago see if the $17 for rice and one piece a ox tail ago Mek unuh betta. Jamaican a di worsssst...
