So I decided to order from here because the menu was different than most with the fried rice and lo mein. Also, ubereats had a buy one get one free. I got soft shell tacos. The tacos were okay. I really prefer hard. I got the three toppings, which were free (red onions, white, and carrots) . Some of the other better toppings had to be paid for. It was also too spicy for me and burn my stomach. When it came to the fried rice, lo mein and shrimp the lo mein and fried rice portion was small (like most places) The shrimp was salty, and I guess they breaded it, so I didn't like that. The entire food was dry. If it came with sauces, the shrimp might have been better, but those had to be paid for also. I feel like there should be at least two free sauces, and after that, you have to pay for more.
Edit: it's nice the owner took a look at my profile and considered my honest opinion as " bashing." All my reviews are honest and FYI my appetite is small. Secondly I know other small businesses that make their own sauces. They provide atleast one that are free and extras you pay for. Your response tells me that that you can't take criticism and instead is quick to get defensive this is what's laughable and ridiculous.
The funny thing is I was excited to show my friend the food when I got it and they said it looks nasty (tacos). I was even going to give this place a second chance just like I did many other places (according to my reviews). And the taco was decent and the chicken quantity was fair. However, your "character" shows a lot with that shady McDonald's comment you made like everyone eats there. It's also funny that my response got the owner upset when the 1 star reviews have a common theme as mine. Which was the food is dry and salty. My review differ because i didn't call the food trash. Lastly, when it comes to breaded I know people use different coatings. I'm guessing hers was flour cause the shrimp tasted old and had no crunch. Then again, the shrimp probably wasn't freshly fried. Also to much black pepper (guessing it was black pepper). Lucky though it was buy one get one free because if I paid a total of $54 for two meal that I didn't enjoy, I would have been upset like the other reviews. Anyways, I wish you well with...
Read moreThe Good: It's clear this is a new Caribbean business and chef, so I wanted to support it. I ordered delivery. The menu looked nice, so I was excited to order a few things. The food looked good (but the taste didn't match). I ordered guava lemonade but was likely sent passionfruit. Either way, it was LOVE. The rasta pasta isn't authentic at all, but it had a little spice, so I made it work. The lamb chop platter came with 3 tiny fatty pieces and didn't follow my sauce on the side instructions. They were salty but overall okay.
The Bad: The corn was not restaurant quality or value. The fried chicken breast was more like dry & hard tenders that were also VERY salty and soggy on the outside due to the buffao sauce. I asked for it on the side, but again, they didn't follow that request. The lo mein had me so hype because I love Trini & Guayanese lo mein, so I ordered double portions for leftovers. It was a big letdown. There was a weird bitter taste, and the quality was giving firm oodles & noodles. The macaroni was weird (seasoned yet bland) - the noodles were bland, but the top crust layer of cheese was flavorful. The buffalo sauce was overpowering because the chicken tenders were already over seasoned. That's a rookie mistake.
The Ugly: I ordered a lobster tail. They never sent it. I never received a refund. I tried calling multiple times, but now they don't answer.
The Real: I think once the chefs continue to get more formal culinary training, things can improve as far as the food goes. The consistency seems to be lacking, and it's giving newer homecook/TikTok vibes. I love supporting entrepreneurs, so I hope they get better. The lack of resolution left a worse taste in my mouth than the lo mein. 2.25 stars for the food quality that I received. 0 stars for lack of effective resolution. Perhaps an off day? Idk. Get that...
Read moreThe only thing I can't speak on is the atmosphere because I ordered. But I'm ordering it again for the second night in a row because that's how good the food was. Anybody bashing this food is foolish, or doesnt know what good food tatse like in my opinion because it's delicious, and I'm a food critic to the millionth degree, AND I'm a white cat so I have NO ANGLE HERE JUST THE TRUTH. Banging food, they deliver all the way across Brooklyn to my side of the Bush close to Marine Park AND their own staff does it all which is commendable at the very least! If not astonishing. I say this not because of how good the food is, also it will arrive still piping hot as if it just left the oven. Don't hate, APPRECIATE!!!!! As I typed this I am anxiously awaiting my delicious...
