I came to New York for vacation. Today was my last day here so I did decided to go for breakfast at this location. I constantly look at reviews to make sure my husband and I get great service. Well once we walked in we where treated by an older lady early morning this was today, 06/10/2019 at around 9 AM. Well she asked us how many and I told her two people she says “go ahead to the bar area” well can I get a booth please or just a regular table. She says “no we don’t have table for two people” mean while I look around and there are many tables empty. Why is she forcing us to sit at the bar section they have we don’t want to sit at that spot. Just as I was ready to leave because for one I’m not going to stay and spend money somewhere where they are forcing something on me and my husband, someone at the register yells out “ name you have tables just sit them at a table!” And she goes to roll her eyes and just show us a table next to the register to sit while bothered. What kind of customer service is that? That’s ridiculous that one, they try and force you to sit on the stools. And two that you can possibly say you have specific tables for two people while the restaurant is half empty. The attitude was very unnecessary and disgusting.
-I will give props to the the waitresses who where very quick on their feet with orders and making sure that we never ran out of coffee or water. That our food was good and simply just checking up on us.
Sadly I can’t say the same about your hostess, she’s the first impression for new comers in an area with a lot of tourist and she just gave the worst impression of this place. I honestly thought that the place was going to be just like her bad service and bad attitude I was ready to leave. But good thing your waitress where nothing like her which...
Read moreFood was excellent for what you expect. Typical diner food with a little extra. Service was good. Food was brought out on time and the server even took the time to split the bill for us. We were a party of 9, my cousins were visiting from out of town with their mom and my other aunt as well and some friends and my cousin's husband, so we settled on a place that could seat us all in midtown Manhattan.
My bill for one Heineken and a bison burger with onion rings came out to less than $32. So I went down to the cashier and made change with the intent of leaving $38 with my bill. I left it and also my aunt's bill and cash with the server directly, not on the table.
We're all outside on the street when the hostess comes out telling me that I only left $18. I was shocked and appalled at the accusation that I didn't leave enough for my bill and tip. My aunt, who was the only other one in our party who paid cash, was also told she didn't leave enough either. I'm 34 years old. I've worked as a server and my brother worked in the industry as well for over 8 years. Not leaving enough on the bill is disgusting to me and I have yet to walk out on a bill or a tip where I dine.
I was sure I left enough money because I started the night with $200 in my pocket and when I recounted I had $162 left. To also accuse not one, but two people of the same stunt is ridiculous because grown adults don't try to stiff people on a bill at a restaurant.
I angrily left $10 on the counter and said I'd never go back there again, and I'm writing this review to inform whoever takes the time to read it that, if you decide to go to this circus of a restaurant, you should only pay with debit or credit. Don't trust them with your cash, they'll...
Read moreWe first stumbled over the Red Flame during our first trip to Big Apple in 2018, where the restaurant was recommended to us by friends. It was a great recommendation and so we came back here for breakfast and diner in April 2022 and then again this August 2024.
The restaurant offers mostly American and Greek cuisine from Omelets, Club Sandwiches, Wraps and Burgers up to Gyros. If you need sweets, you will also get Cakes and Milkshakes here. In case you are vegetarian like my wife, you won't have any issues to find something to eat for you, too.
The staff is quite friendly and prepares meals fast. Especially, I have to say thank you to Consuela and Luiz from the evening shift for their friendly and kind services. Thank you so much for the great time with you, folks. :-)
Prices of the Red Flame are extremely fair for Manhattan. We paid around 50 Dollar for breakfast and dinner per person and day. In a city, where even a milk shake can cost 16 dollars, this is extremely fair. Just keep in mind that gratitudes make up the majority of the guy's and girl's income here, so be fair and deliver a tip. In general, we delivered a 20 percent tip to the staff.
Last but not least, we have to say, that we had a great time in Red Flames Restaurant. Thanks to the staff for the kind services, and see you again in...
